Ford Green Lights Compact Pickup For The US Market
Following rumors, spy photos, and vague language on the part of Ford brass, the Blue Oval automaker has admitted a new, smaller model is set to join its truck lineup. The vehicle in question will give consumers something else to think about than just Ranger, F-150, and Super Duty.

As reported by Automotive News, Ford’s president of global markets, Jim Farley, used clearer language when speaking at the Deutsche Bank Global Auto Industry Conference in Detroit.

They might sell a few more without a Focus happy face grill. Even buyers of the smallest truck with a 4-cyl engine want it to look like truck.

Gotta be FWD for sure.

Did you mean 4WD? FWD means front wheel drive.

Who's gonna buy an ugly faced wanna be truckster? Put a proper F-series/Ranger face on the thing! And what's with the tiny wheels?

With rare exceptions front wheel drive cars/trucks do not handle as well and certainly don't have much towing ability. You want a truck, buy a real truck, 4WD or rear wheel drive. You want to deliver pillows or tow a unicycle, buy this thing.

if it'll get smaller Ranger front & a front-biased 4wd system & at least the smaller EcoBoot engine, it shld do well.

To the negative comments, keep this in mind: Customers buying trucks like this do not heavy duty components. Size & MPG will be the selling point.

This will be an FWD/AWD product. An Escape pickup would be amazing. The crossoverpickup is bound to be a thing. Call it the Ranchero.

I would assume it would also become a VW Taishiqua as well.

Honda has the formula totally wrong. An Element pickup would have been a screamer for sales and the Fridgeline has been a snoozer for sales for two generations. The formula is totally wrong.

Make it rugged n sexy looking n a little bit cute n it will sell well.

Add an open hatch between back seat n bed so u can carry long items with tailgate down for max. versatility.

Make a sporty ST version too.

The hatch idea is clever.

Can you imagine a Jeepster off the Jeep Retrograde?
