WOMPWOMP: Land Rover AXES The Range Rover SV Coupe
UPDATE 1/29/19: The Range Rover SV coupe is DOA, as Land Rover says that it will not reach production. The company had planned to build 999 of these exclusive models globally but has canceled all existing orders; according to Auto Express, some customers had already configured their vehicles. A Land Rover spokesperson said in a statement, "We have taken the difficult decision to inform our customers that the Range Rover SV coupe will not proceed into production. Instead, Land Rover is focusing its resources and investment on the next generation of world-class products."

Not producing this atrocity makes a lot of sense. It's projected price was utterly ridiculous. Land Rover needs to focus on getting models into production that will have big volume because currently they have NONE that are challenging any segment. What is the difference between a Land Rover and a Range Rover anyway? Price? both are expensive. Size? Nope, both overlap. Engines/technology? Nope, they are identical.

Still, pricing and marketing aside, etc.... in a world of SUV/CUV clones... is there not room for one 2-door? I mean GM chould make a Tahoe 2 door and call it K5...

I don't want a 4 door and no one makes any reasonably usable 2 door anything that can carry 4 people comfortably... cannot ANYONE come up with something different... Give me a CTS-V Coupe (not like the previous one, but like the current one)... an XT6 Coupe a big comfortable 2 door... A 2 door Lincoln Continental called Mark something... something for the aging boomers who dont want a Euro-GT coupe and remember the PL Coupes of our youth... Grand Prix's, Eldorado's, Riviera's, ... the MB S-Coupe is fantastic but $150K and the back seat isn't really usable... such automotive boringness....

The SV Coupe is too much of a lifestyle option. And a big heavy 2-door version of the existing Range Rover isn't very "aspirational". It's a very "hard sell' as even GM would dare re-introduce a new K5 Tahoe 2-door SUV. Notice there's no Cayenne or Urus coupes.

Agreed on the SV and SUV "Coupes" ->(X4/X6/GLC/GLE-"Coupes"), I find none of the remotely interesting, I think someone thought they were cool now everyone is copying them... I think they're revolting to look at and terribly impractical..

GM takes a chance on nothing, they're couldn't lead on anything if the company depeneded on it... and it does which shows why GM is dying... A Macan 2 door would be cool I think, but I think a Urus would not translate well, might be viewed to much as an exotic car stuck on an SUV platform?

I prefer a car but wont hold my breath...

Did you really want a Range Rover for $300K that looks like a $90K model for all intents and purposes?
