RENDERED SPECULATION: All-new Details About The Tesla Model Y — The Model 3 SUV Is Coming To Life, Slowly...
Unsurprisingly, the Tesla Model Y is behind its target date to hit the market. Given Elon Musk's track record, this is par for the course, really.

But, according to new reports, the Model Y is on the way. The latest news indicates it will be here for a 2020 launch. Who knows though, in reality, as the company shifts its targets all the time.

The Model Y is a BIG deal to Tesla because it shares three-quarters of its parts with the Model 3. Therefore, we'd expect the pricing to be pretty much in line with the Model 3. While we don't expect it to be near that base $35,000 Model 3 price that never really was met, we can imagine it starting at around $60-65,000/pop.

The folks at Auto Express decided to do a rendering of what the Model Y **may** look like. As of now there's no real indicators of where Tesla will take its design. The latest thinking is a "Russian doll" approach a la "same sausage, different lengths," which has been done many times before.

What say you, Spies? Are you jazzed about the Model Y or is it not even on your radar?

...Elon Musk has confirmed that Tesla has ordered the tooling for the new Model Y, and that production of the firm’s fourth model is set to commence shortly. The new all-electric SUV will be built in the firm’s Gigafactory in Nevada, alongside Tesla’s battery packs and electric motors.

Musk plans for the batteries and powertrains to roll off one production line, straight onto another, joining the Model Y for assembly. This would eliminate the clumsy transportation network for Tesla batteries and motors between Nevada and California, a process that currently plagues the assembly lines for the
Model S, Model X and Model 3...

How hard can a render be? Raise the roof on a Model 3 and you're done.

Building a new Tesla at a COMPLETELY NEW production plant (in the middle of nowhere's-ville Nevada).

Clark, Nevada, the location of the gigafactory is about 250 miles from Fremont, CA (just over the Donner Pass near Squaw Valley and about 30 miles outside of Reno); its 500 miles from Salt Lake City, UT; and 450 miles from Las Vegas. Where will Tesla get the workers to glue together the cars?

To think that Tesla build quality is terrible now...Musk surely must be joking that the Model Y will ever see the light of day.

If Musk was serious about Model Y production, he'd outsource it to Magna.

You seriously don't think the Y will ever see the light of day? The haters never learn even after the Roadster, the S, the X, and the 3... all of which never were to "see the light of day."

The model Y could look like a lifted 3...
Nothing too exciting!!!

For the first time Tesla will face strong competition from many car makers as EV crossovers are expected in 2020.

Looking forward to seeing Ford's Mustang styled performance EV.

It is harder to visualize how they are going to fund it.
