Tesla Suspends Model 3 Performance Test Drives In China After Crash

Tesla has temporarily suspended test drives of the Model 3 in Shenzen, China following a crash.

Teslarati reports that prior to starting local deliveries of the Model 3, Tesla has been offering test drivers of its most affordable vehicle but in range-topping Model 3 Performance guise. One of the first test drives last week didn’t end very well.

A Tesla, what could go wrong?

Report in WSJ yesterday reported that Tesla's parts supply chain far from being set up properly. Accidents like these take 3 months to get parts pissing off many buyers. Some repair shops refuse to take in Tesla repairs because of parts issues. Sure these issues will get straightened out over time but deserve as much awareness as the over the top ain't Tesla ownership grand stories.

Yup it took me about 3 months to replace a cracked windshield, agree the supply chain is lacking. That is probably why they are opening their own repair shops now.

Update -
The damaged Model 3 from China is currently awaiting flatbed transport from China back to the Fremont, CA USA repair facility which might be the only place in the world where it can be fixed. Parts availability is another question however.

Shenzen and Dongguan they drive like absolute idiots. Roads congested? No problem just use the oncoming traffic lanes and punch it honking at the cars whom dare be in your way!!!

I was almost ran over walking out of a McDonalds once by a stream of cars racing down a sidewalk because the road wasn't moving due to congestion. Craziest drivers I have ever seen and such a sharp contrast to the well mannered, courteous Hong Kongers just a few miles away (even though they drive on the wrong side).

I was just in Hong Kong and was surprised at how well designed everything was. For a region of 8 million people, traffic was surprisingly painless... probably because they have what must be the best subway system in the world.
