Hyundai’s N Performance Flagship May Have A 500 HP Hybrid Powertrain

Hyundai’s N performance division is currently developing a halo model and, according to rumors, it could feature a potent hybrid powertrain.

The South Korean automaker first confirmed it was working on such a vehicle in July 2018, but has kept details about the vehicle close to its chest. However, a new report from Autocar may, if proven correct, give us an insight on what engine this model will use.

They need to figure out how to launch Genesis first rather than introducing a Hyundai that would compete with Genesis.

Perhaps, but creating a premium Hyundai-badged product will not fare well. They should have done something daring like cutting a deal with Mercedes to co-brand Genesis as an entry-level premium brand in Mercedes dealers, but they have no one with vision. They should have bitten the bullet of Genesis being a brand from day one, but they have no vision.

Will first way to better sale the Genesis was never should had called it "Genesis." When people see that immediately they think "Hyundai." They should had thought of a unique name since the Genesis name was already on a Hyundai. That is the first issue.

2nd issue is the brand lacks crossovers

3rd issue is the brand has too many sedans

3rd issue the K900 contradicts Genesis sales and it is 2019 and Hyundai wants a 500hp Sedan? Kia doesnt need the k900. The Stinger would had been a flagship sedan.

Matt: Hyundai can hire the guy that Cadillac fired. Next year at this time, you will be posting the same thing ... "They need to figure out how to launch Genesis first rather than introducing a Hyundai that would compete with Genesis."

Hiring Jockitch DeNiacin would be apocalyptic. Hyundai-Kia screwed the pooch on Genesis and that's sad because I much prefer the Stinger I had to the piece of mierda Alfa that I'm driving now. I've advocated dumping the Alfa franchise. Take one a drive it they said. Fall in love with it they said.

It's a total lemon. Idiot lights come on then heal themselves. It's gone into limp mode twice so far. I'm keeping it until I can figure out what to liberate from the courtesy car fleet and then it's gone.

@MDarringer, really sad to hear about the Alfa problems as I was hoping they would provide good competition and an alternative to the Germans. Wife is thinking she wants a Giulia TI with the sport package. I was hoping they would have solved/sorted a lot of those issues by now as almost everything mechanical except the engine are semi off the shelf components (tranny, diff, alternators etc...). They do have nice handling, quick steering, the motor is sufficiently powerful and linear for a turbo 4, interior seemed nice although the infotainment system seemed a couple generations back level. Can you post exactly what the issues turn out to be if they get resolved?

Help me understand this:
Ok Genesis is the premium brand.
So why is it Kia has a 2nd generation k900 coming and the 1st generation flopped? Doesnt this cancel off the genesis? And why is Hyindai working on a premium sedan?

And why does Kia have a Cadenza, Stinger and K900? They could ex out the Cadenza and K900 and replace those with more crossovers All that money it cost to assemble the K900. Who is going to buy them? Wh cant Hyundai and Kia just be a Mazda, Toyota and Ford competitor and leave that to the Genesis?

Also Genesis has too many sedans.
