Latest Update Keeps Your Pets Cool In Your Parked Tesla
Is there anything worse than the people who leave their dogs in their car during the hottest days of summer? (I mean, besides people who leave their kids in the hot car. Both are horrible!) People should know cracking the windows just isn’t enough when the temperatures start creeping up. So now Tesla, which is all about adding crazy over-the-air update features to its cars, is doing something to protect the pooches of the world. Meet: Dog Mode.

The video key on my BMW lets me set the a/c on a timer while I'm shopping and dog is in the car.

This feature is really the first of it's kind. Sure, you can put AC on a timer or perhaps user a phone app to manually turn the climate on and off.. that still won't stop people from potentially breaking into your car if they see a pet there. Also, this will stay running until battery hits 20%... so like days of AC/heating on a full charge.

Tesla owners leave their pets and presumably children in their cars to die. They also watch Harry Potter movies to their deaths. Tesla owners are entitled morons.

Just because your favorite brands are stagnating and or failing, stop being resentful for those that support the future.

It won’t stop well meaning a-holes from busting your windows.

My thoughts..

(a) Tesla is realizing that the conquest sales for the Model 3 are former Prius and Subaru owners so "Pet Mode" (trumpets) is pandering to them a bit.

(b) Related question - since Tesla is embracing animals, maybe someone can tweet to Elon and ask him if he could program a "Falcon Flight" mode for the Model X where the falcon doors can be programmed to flap up and down repeatedly for 5 minutes, just to create drama. That would be a cool feature to remotely activate when your Model X is valet'd in front of a fancy restaurant.

(c) Regardless of "Pet Mode" if your pet is locked in your car for a period of time, some innocent bystander will definitely call the cops and break your window to rescue the dogs. No one is going to look at the center screen to see if its in pet mode.

(d) I would never trust the safety of my beloved pet to Tesla software engineers.

Sorry forgot one...

(e) Once the innocent bystander calls the cops and breaks your window to rescue your pets, your Tesla will be out of service for 4 months while the glass gets repaired.

It actually does now. If sensors detect nearby obstacles the software now limits power/acceleration.

Keep your pets at home. They don't need to come out for shopping trips etc in the summer months. And if you do leave your pet or your child in your car I will be more than happy to break the window and make sure you get a ticket. #avengers.

That's a great feature. I will sometimes leave my car running on a hot or cold day to keep the pup comfy and secure.
