SPIED: The Latest Spy Shots Of The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Shows A LOT Of SCREEN Going On...
Welp, here we go, Spies.

Although there's a tremendous amount of Tesla Derangement Syndrome — a term coined by our very own Agent 001 — right here on AutoSpies, I think it's as clear as day where Mercedes-Benz is getting inspiration for its next-gen S-Class.

If you're that hard headed not to see what's going on, there's no hope for you. Pack it in and go to bed.

Having said that, the latest spy shots of the all-new S-Class show the interior for the first time. As expected, everything is camouflaged.

Well, except for the steering wheel, the instrument panel, which uses a 12-inch carryover screen, and then there's a truly massive square screen that serves as the center stack. The only other vehicles we've seen with anything close to this is the Model S and Model 3. The Germans have anchored what appears to be a 15 or 17-inch touchscreen at the center of the vehicle. At the bottom of the screen are switches for what we assume to be normal center stack functions (HVAC, Radio, Media, etc.). At this point we cannot be sure though because the image isn't that up close and personal.

As this is a first impression, we've got to ask: Are YOU happy with where Mercedes is taking the upcoming S-Class or is this already leaving a BAD taste in your mouth?

What say you, Spies?

Knobs & Buttons > Touchscreens

You know, critics & fanatics said having physical buttons on smartphones was their top priorities. I'm wondering how Palm, RIM, Blackberry supporters are doing today?

I remember the Samsung Note3 was considered comically huge when a 4.7" screen iPhone was the benchmark. So, what's the largest iPhone you can get today?

Have you seen those new Ram 2500 & Subaru Legacy center infotainment screens? Kinda look different...but good.

Cars use to be a refuge, escape and diversion from the rest of our lives. No longer. Screens dominate our daily endeavors and now our driving time. Sadly there is no escaping it.

We're quite different in age but I agree. My business life keeps me very busy and the LAST thing I want is for it to crowd my world when I'm driving. The Jumbotron no doubt allows for all sorts of content to be displayed that takes eyes off the road and causes intrusion.

When I'm driving, I have one cell phone set to say that I'm driving and will not answer and the other is on in case my wife needs me--she rarely does LOL. I usually don't even have music on.

@MD We are similar. I don't want distractions when I drive. Rarely have the music on and I don't answer the phone. My dog has not learned to dial just yet. I prefer to be alone with my thoughts and focus on the bad drivers/road conditions.

Looks out of place and an afterthought

That middle screen is way too wide.
Hey, what,s with the age reference? I remember whe Saab had a button to dim everything but the speedometer and tach to avoid distraction.

Yikes, hm...

I struggle to see how they will be able to integrate classical elegance and luxury with this. I have faith in Mercedes though, given their recent track record and their need to get it right with the S-Class. I will reserve judgement until it's revealed officially.

They seem to be betting on big screens, and following Tesla, Volvo, Audi, and even Ram and Ford. Others are betting bigger on buttons. Time will tell who read the tea leaves right.

I will be interested to see how this "glass cockpit" is seen by S-Class buyers. I think a % will be miffed and look elsewhere for their next CEO ride.

Tacky and vulgar aren't words usually associated with $100,000 luxury car.

My guess this will be part of an expensive options package. Many cars today already offer an option that includes a larger screen than the standard eqipment.

This just might be for the test mule. There are no center air vents on this.

They're above the screen. Already been revealed in other spy pics.

I guess I better get used to this, since it seems pretty obvious that all cars will be adopt this going forward.

Oh poop.

That pretty much sums up my feeling about this.

The positive is that it looks more organic in design than Tesla’s. The way it rises up from the center console does give it a better aesthetic. However it does somewhat mimick how the Avalon’s center console to,screen rises to some degree anyway. The negatives is that I am not a fan of these large screens. I do,not need a laptop in my car when I’m driving. And anyone who does shouldn’t be driving.
