Ferrari Reveals A V8 Hybrid Supercar Is In The Works
Ferrari plans to unveil a mid-engine supercar this year that is expected to have a hybrid drivetrain.

CEO Louis Camilleri confirmed the car’s 2019 debut on an earnings call on Jan. 31 but gave no further details.

A source familiar with the project said the car will have a V-8 gasoline engine coupled with an electric motor.

It will sit at the top of Ferrari’s sport cars range and will offer more horsepower than the 488 Pista,  Michael Leiters, Ferrari’s chief technology officer, said at the company’s capital markets day last September.

The power that these cars have is really starting to get way out of hand. If a Pista has 711hp, where does the next car go to? 800hp in the next "entry" level Ferrari? You can barely use 400-500hp on the road safely, especially in the wet. These cars all need valet modes to dial back the power for inexperienced drivers- 25%, 50%, 75% etc..

Given how you can buy 600hp without having to prove you can drive 600hp raises a tremendous concern.

Wonder how Ferrari will make a battery powered motor sound like a snarling V-12?

Keep the HP coming...the cars are getting heavier and 0-60 times haven't changed a lot in the last 10 years.
