Honda May Axe UK Assembly Plant Upon Brexit

Honda, Ford, Nissan etc... Brexit is going to crush the UK economy. Good job! Hopefully they will announce a delay or that they will turn away from Brexit for 2 years and do another referendum or just call it a day.

Brexit will NOT crush the UK's economy. What is hurting their economy is the socialist idiocy of Theresa May's non-leadership. The clear move is to leave the Socialist Fourth Reich that Merkel was trying to create and then become beyond business friendly. As a hardcore Fascist-Socialist, May--like all socialists--wants to grenade the economy, put people on public assistance and subjugate them. The UK is staggering because of the mixed signals of anti-Brexiters like the traitor May.

@MD Call her what you like she could not get Parliament to support the plan she negotiated with the EU. And I doubt she will get both parties and the EU to support any other plan. The people voted but the government can't agree to any exit plans. ERGO- its a flop and tell the people you tried, but it isn't going to work. The UK should stay part of the EU.

@MD There are X number of countries in the EU. Each has representation on the bodies the govern it and they make up the policies for the trading group as a whole. No one country can say they did not get a say or had no hand in the rule making. They all do it together. Where these bodies sit makes no difference. The group decides to benefit the group as a whole. It is a collective. Not a lot different that the United States of America. And just like in America, there are people from every state in the Union that complain about Washington. But each state has folks in Congress and the Senate representing them and their state.

As well if you read the article Honda makes about 100,000 cars a year in this plant. The vast majority are exported. In a common market it is fine to make them in any member nation. Once the UK is out, it not longer makes sense as you will face tariffs that increase the price of your goods and make them less attractive to consumers in the markets they are sold in. So yes, it has a lot to do with Brexit.

Most of the manufactured goods in the UK are exported to the EU. They certainly will not keep those favorable trade policies when UK exits the EU. That was a large part of the reason the EU was set up to allow free trade between all its members.

Funny how this hurts the exact people who voted for Brexit, I'll refrain from saying more.

Looks like Mercedes F1 team is publicly expressing concerns about Brexit as well. The impact to F1 teams could be significant with everything from import export of parts to retaining top talent from around the world all being up in the air or left to bilateral deals which could take many years to hammer out.
