EU Demands Automatic Speed Controls Within 3 Years - Which State Here Will Be The First To Think That Is A Good Idea?

All new cars sold in the EU are set to be fitted with mandatory speed limiters within three years, after a key group of MEPs approved the fitment of a wide range of safety measures for new cars.

The limiters – dubbed Intelligent Speed Assistance, or ISA – use traffic-sign-recognition cameras and/or GPS data to determine the maximum permitted speed in a particular area, automatically limiting engine power and a vehicle’s speed to the prevailing limit.

A real buzz kill to enthusiasts and certainly a progressive agenda item. Duh. California.

I am actually not so sure. I know there is a large carsareevil group but just as large enthusiast group that are both "liberals"

Ouch, that sucks. However, 3 years is a lifetime away for car technology--if you have a car with the capability to cut max speed in 3 years, it can probably drive itself as well.

There are already many cars that tells you what that the speed limit is where you're driving. The Tesla lets you set a relational speed for cruise control/auto pilot, so +10 means every time you turn on cruise it will default to 10 miles above the speed limit. I would be super annoyed if I had to always drive the speed limit in CA.

As self driving cars led by Tesla start becoming reality, I think a significant portion of people could care less about speeding if it means they are simply kicking back and allowing the car to drive mostvof the time. Reading, movie watching, messaging, etc while a car drives itself is going to mean car following the speed limits a lot more.

In fact, as this theory becomes reality, look for towns and cities to fall under a cash crunch as revenues from speeding tickets decline. Other revenues like local sales taxes will have to be raised to feed the coffers.

Care less about, not so sure. When you are held to the speed limit and all the people driving themselves are passing you like you are standing still I think you will not be that pleased despite reading your paper. I dare anyone to go a full week and never exceed the speed limit, just stay out of the left lane please.

The Chinese Government has poured more money into EV tech and electrical transportation tech in general than anyone. And it is the Chinese who are set up to reap the vast rewards as China itself is already the leader in worldwide EV sales.

When Chinese Evs are exported around the world, it will dominate. The lone outlier is Tesla ...American made. Featuring Military-grade electronics.
