Ford Chairman Says Mach 1 SUV Will "Go Like Hell"

When Ford Motor Co. was attempting to dethrone Ferrari on the racetrack at Le Mans, then-President Henry Ford II had one directive for his drivers: "Go like hell."

More than a half-century later, Hank the Deuce's nephew called on that phrase to help define the company's first battery-electric crossover, due out next year.

Speaking Monday at the Crain's Detroit Business Newsmaker of the Year luncheon, Ford Executive Chairman Bill Ford said the Mustang-inspired vehicle "is going to go like hell."

I am still having trouble reconciling "Mustang inspired" and "crossover."
Sounds like a marketing ideation session. "Okay, let's list some things that are hot now, crossovers, electric and throw in some Mustang heritage."

Ford should know better than to use a historic model name like the Mach 1 and put it on an electric SUV. Someone should lose their job.

If they can make it look like a 4dr Mustang they might be able to pull it off. I hope it's not raised too high.
