STUD OR DUD? RATE This 2019 BMW 3-Series TV Commercial
BMW has produced the most advanced 3-Series ever, but you might never know it by the 2019 ad they just released.

Instead we get a dumbed down ad for the masses that does little to convey the true essence that is the 3-Series.    Has BMW lost touch with reality, or are we expecting too much from the target audience these days?

Watch the ad below and give us your feedback and rate it.  Does it appeal to you? Are you now wanting to consider the new 3-Series. Have they lost their marbles?

Are we allowed to use negative numbers?

I suppose it's great if having spasms on acid is your goal

Commercial stinks, trying too hard to be hip. New design however starting to grow on me...

It is a vanity commercial - i.e. one that is meant to be seen and re-seen by 'commerical/visual creative geeks' (like me) on Youtube.

It is not meant to be seen by the general public, but to create a "buzz" among "influcencers".

As that type of commercial - it hangs together creatively and is very effective.

The long form commercial does nothing, however, to dispell any notion from the viewer that they are just viewing a mid-cycle refresh of the 2014 3-series versus an all-new version. Maybe the "art" is to distract from the "car".

So you do acid and call spasms dancing?

Plenty of trendy dancing & activity w/n commercial to detract from an otherwise mid-cycle refresh. Plenty of quick glimpses of the many tech gadget/features/options the vehicle can have.

the overall advertisement is targeting younger crowds (18-30) mostly. There's no indication of fuel ratings, power/torque ratings, AWD options, engine options...so this advert wasn't meant for the BMW fanatic/purists that want to see the on-road performance features.

It's an asinine commercial for snobby idiots.

There will be hipsters in Brooklyn, who do not and who will never own a car, watching and re-watching this and "viral-ly" sharing it with their "followers".

I'll bet money that over 50% of the people involved in the commercial do not even have a drivers license.

So, yes, asinine.

i agree with mre30.

marketing today is to generate as much brand aspiration as possible. even with groups of consumers that wont own a vehicle or be able to afford this vehicle. when you have today's younger consumers the make vehicle choices based on whether it has Apple Play or Android Auto, you gotta adapt your the marketing plans.

it would be nice to see an M or M-sport ad occasionally just to remind us BMW still makes exciting vehicles to drive (hard) - where possible.

Great song but the styling of the car is lackluster... BMW sure knows how to craft great motors though, I will give it to them on that.

They are moving away from their traditional message of being a great drivers car to touting the in cabin tech. This is a dangerous strategy for BMW, as it marginalizes their historic strength and forces them to keep up in a tech arms race with companies with significantly more resources than they have.
