VW lost me over a year ago when I couldn't find a Tiguan SEL Premium within 500 miles, so I bought my Outback. Not in the market now, but I'm waiting to see what sort of EVs they have available after 2020. I'll be retiring about then, and when I get around to replacing the Outback I want it to have a plug. Since I'll probably be moving about 100-150 miles (over a mountain pass) from the grandkids, range will be a factor. Anything less than an honest 200+ mile range won't cut it. Depending on what they offer in their new EVs, they might get me back.

VW is incredibly inept at marketing. For example, they advertised the base price of the Atlas and then shipped only high-end models for the kick off. They should have shipped base models because that's what caused the traffic with mid models the next in volume. People came in wanting to pay low 30s and saw high 40s. Similarly they botched the Tiguan. VW is notorious for launching a new product without sufficient volume in the pipeline. Then VW will inexplicably have a volume crater as if they forgot to build more all of a sudden.

They need to come out with a Tiguan Limited replacement asap. Like a T-Rock.
