Tesla To Reveal Model Y On March 14th - Will It Disrupt The Market Like The Model 3?

Hoping to start this week in better form than last week, Tesla CEO Elon Musk took to Twitter Sunday to generate buzz ahead of the Model Y’s debut. The upcoming crossover, based on the Model 3 sedan, will see the light of day on March 14th at the company’s L.A. design studio, Musk said.

As for when customers can expect to see one, that’s a matter for the bookies.

Audi has its own compact all-EV SUV debuting at Geneva. This time, Tesla won't be the only all-EV offering in its segment and that means the odds of disruption are far lower.

There is nothing like a gigantic price reduction to confirm that demand is off the charts (said no one ever).

Any new BEV compact crossover will disrupt that segement of a very hot market, as they will be the only choices for consumers. But as BEV sales are so small relative to the total market size for CUV's it won't have much impact overall.

Did I sleep in? What market disruption? Was the Tucker a market disruptor

We will likely know the answer. It took 3 years to bring the 3 to market. He will ask for deposits again to raise cash, but Tesla will not be around in 3 years.

There will be a Tesla in your garage before the company ever goes bankrupt. Deep down you know it's true, Truthy.

The Y is 80% Model 3, basically just a 10% larger version of it. Base price I think will be $39k and will be equivalent to the $35k Model 3 in a larger size, 200 miles of range. Think 280 miles will be the larger battery for $47k or so (with all interior upgrades).

Ignore the haters SJD. It will sell well and exceed its targets when it gets launched. I can see it outselling the model 3 and becoming Tesla's top selling model. It will likely eat ito X3, Q5 and Macan sales.

So, when Elon the Magnificent promised a $35 K car which 3 years after accepting deposits one still has been delivered as the average transaction price is still around $57K, you still want us to believe in a $39 K model Why?!?

To put it in terms most of you would understand, this thing is going to be YUGE!

Whoops, Elon the conman just hours ago "clarified" that volume production of the $35,000 model 3 would not start until sometime this summer. Bait and switch.

It will certainly sell well. The X3/Q5/GLC will lose significant sales from the Model Y.

So straight from the drawing board to production without any time in prototype/engineering phases. #PASS

Just a way for Tesla to postpone bankrupcy. We'll see if any suckers are willing to make deposits for a car that may never come (Telsa has basically cut capex to zero).

Anyone who put a deposit on a M3 got screwed by Tesla. Even though some people were on the list for years, Tesla sold higher priced cars to people not even on the list.

Don't you guys ever get tired of being wrong? You have been saying the same BS for 5 years and in that time Tesla has grown every year and is beating out it's direct competitors in every market it is in, while having the highest consumer sat. Wake up.
