If You Just Took Home $162 Million In Lotto Winnings, What Car Would You Buy?
We all wish we could be in the position 54-year-old Michael J. Weirsky is in now. The New Jersey resident recently won the Mega Millions lottery, which reached $273 million the night the numbers were drawn. Weirsky, who has been divorced for 15 years and was struggling financially to get by, opted to take the lump sum of $162.5 million after taxes. Uncle Sam certainly takes his fair share but it’s not like Weirsky will be poor. Not even close. But instead of heading directly to his local Ferrari, Lamborghini or, heck, Bugatti dealership, Weirsky prefers for his first major new purchase to be a little bit more modest. Forget those exotics, he’s buying a $60,000 Ford F-150 Raptor.

He likely made the smart move. If I won that money I would want it locked down for 3-6 months just to give myself time to prioritize vs going out and getting a car or a home I would not be really happy with in the long run. Patience... A Heli Ski holiday in BC would definitely come first...

loaded question. I'm not a "showey" person & I don't really need to announce my "new fortunes", but I'd definitely get 2 vehicles.

Cullinan: Can come & go before most average people know what I'm driving.
CT6 V-sport: Vastly overlooked. Descent luxury with plenty of performance. Can easily hide in daily traffic.

No chrome options or brightwork. Both will have dark body color exterior for trim all around.

I like your ideas... I’d probably do an Bentley or X7 quite a few 911’s... I’d get a CT6-V and have it made into a 2 door Coupe by Kindig or someone else... I have no need for an F150 but would get one anyway...

While it was not a lottery win - My bosses wife died last year and my boss died last month - and I was the main heir in the will (WHich is why I have not been around much)

SO(As far as cars) I got two Rolls Phantoms, a stable of 6 Ferraris including an 812, a Cadillac Escalade, a 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible, and his first car - a 1926 Packard Touring.

And I also inherited his Chauffeur as well!

He'd better get a damed good attorney and an extremely competent accountant because to inherit that in one shot brings with it a hefty inheritance tax.

The wills - and the trusts - were well set up. Much was already in Living Trusts that were controlled by them but were legally mine so no inheritance at all. Even so - the legal fees are going to be substantial. (My first wife's family is one of the top Legal Firms in NJ and they are handling it). The cars are actually only a very small part of the property involved.

It was one car on my all time favorites list - But at that time - I could not afford anything close. At my age - I will have to decide which cars I will keep - I certainly do not need 6 Ferraris. Will keep the new Rolls - Has less than 200 miles on it
