Is World Ready For A 500HP Chinese M3 Killer?
Back in October last year, Chinese company Lynk & Co presented together with Cyan Racing a World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) vehicle based on the 03 sedan. The first video of the car undergoing testing on the road in Spain was released this week.

At the time of the car’s introduction, Cyan said the 03’s engine developed 500 hp, but that number apparently was just an estimate. As per the details released by the racing team this week, the 2.0-liter turbocharged powerplant develops in fact 528 hp.

Just some backround on Lynk&Co, it's a Swedish-Chinese venture backed by China's Geely Automobiles. Car was developed by the same engineers behind the new Volvo's If i am correct.

The Chinese have alot of catching up to do, Volvo has been gaining traction recently. We will know in the long run the build quality and reliability of Chinese backed brands.

I might take it more seriously if it weren't named LincolnCo. What's next BuickCo?

The M3 suffered a violent death in 2008 by the C 63 AMG

Indeed. BMW is more Buick Motor Works these days than anything.

it is growing old to see headlines such as "is this the 3-Series killer" or is this the M3 killer." They are simply new performance sedans that compete in the same segment. if it is competive, great. The gap may be closing, but such is the case with a mature market.
Jaguar, Infiniti, Lexus, Cadillac, Audi, all have been hailed by some publication as having a 3-Series killer. The 3 -Series is still number one in the market.

For sure, the complaints and concerns about quality are likely to be overblown... I know iPhones are different than cars but nonetheless the process is the same (Edward Deming).

So let get this right. People complained of the Sonata's backend to a Civic. Yet bo one obviously cant see the black strip going through the C pillar like Optima and Stinger huh?

So a Camry, Optima, Sportage, and A4 had a big orgy and birthed this thing.

I purchased a commercial shovel made in China. On the job, after two days, the handle broke off. So much for any Chinese made products ever again for me.

The Chinese make absolute cheap shit and top of the line stuff that can compete with anybody -it all depends on what you specify and are willing to pay for. If you beat them down in price they will cut corners to produce the product at your price point.

I buy aerospace quality machined brass parts for 1/10th of what it used to cost me from my American suppliers and it is far better quality. In fact, I can't buy the barstock cheaper than I can buy these finished complex parts for and make them inhouse. Good luck avoiding Chinese made products as they will produce 70% of the worlds goods by 2025.

What this is is a Geely version of a Volvo S60. Or to be more precise, the S60 is a Geely masquerading as a Volvo.
