Corvette Prototypes Are So Powerful They Are Bending The Frames Of Test Vehicles
Not long ago we learned that General Motors decided to delay the launch of its next-generation Chevrolet Corvette by at least six months. Many, us included, speculated a reveal would happen last January at Detroit. It obviously didn’t, and we soon found out C8 prototypes were experiencing electrical problems that forced the delay. Turns out there were more issues, one of them being quite serious.

Hagerty learned these details through well-placed but unnamed sources within the automaker and yes, electrical issues were indeed happening. The C8’s new electrical architecture, which includes more than 100 computer modules, was making engineers earn their paychecks due to several bugs. It’s an extremely complex system that required additional time to refine.

The C8 has electrical problems and now car frame bends too? LOL! The C8 will not be release ever! Theses are major problems. LOL!

CAD/CAM anyone?

Bending the frame is good. It demonstrates the engine is doing its job. Too much power is just right.

That should ensure another year or two of C7 production. Not a bad turn of events all things considered.

Most Automakers make changes after real world testing. 1,000 hp is a big number to hit. I am sure others ahve had issues too, just not made public like this.
This is why real world testing is so important. (Tesla take note).

Did they farm out the design to TVR due to TVR's expertise with 1000hp in the Speed Twelve and the ensuing bent frames?

Corvette needs to shove a Subaru boxer engine in that car. Porche retro mods have them so it's good enough for the Corvette. Bent frame issue fixed. I know that I set myself up for humiliation... Let the fun begin !!!

This is all very basic engineering too, statics and dynamics... this should never have happened.

Shouldn't the headline read...

"Massive GM engineering incompetence leads to bent frames on Corvette Prototypes; Release Delayed"

Its the 80's all over again - Trump is President and GM is launching another Fiero.

GM will screw this up so badly that they may even kill the Corvette. Hope not.

...and to think we haven't even gotten to the engine fire stories or overheating in modest traffic stories yet....

share R&D issues is just good marketing leading up to an official introduction.

there will be plenty of damage parts & components as they finalize the right combination of structural rigidity paired with any of the particular powertrains expected in the options list.

Can't wait to see it.
