Perhaps buy a competitive, mid engined super car, take it apart and see how another company, with significantly less resources does it Vs doing it yourself on the cheap... GM sucks...

This will be the car that kills the Corvette. It's shaping up to be a poorly designed quality crap storm. Electrical issues...a platform that bends easily with a high torque engine...likely the ridiculous cost. This is turning out to be an epic blunder.

@MD Have a bit of hope. They are talking about it being a stand alone brand. Maybe they will finally listen to you and make an SUV or two and a sedan with Corvette power.

This thing is going to be a disaster. Even when they do start producing them I wouldn't trust it.

Amen. If it's this close to introduction with production toward end end of 2019 and has these intense problems, it's a lemon. If this were coming out in 2-3 years, there would be no worry.

The mid-engined Corvette came suddenly out of nowhere even as GM said the C8 was going to be front-engined.

A car nobody asked for. Much like the 4 mid engined cars Aston Martin showed at Geneva. This need to chase Ferrari, McLaren and Lamborghini is silly. Nobody will cross shop one of those cars for a Zora Corvette or a carbon tub Aston with a prone driving position.

GM should have made Corvette a brand.

Look on the bright side - at least the mid-engine Corvette wasn't on fire!

I suspect those photos/videos are coming soon as more of these get out in the real world for testin.

Hilarious how much hate this car is getting around here. Haters going to be eating their words. This car is going to be awesome.

And you know this HOW?

The same way you seem to know otherwise - Matt

Nobody has any real knowledge of what will happen when the New Corvette comes out - although we do know it will sell like hotcakes initially regardless.

It is obvious the GM is taking its time to get it right - and they still will have growing pains - but I still would rather have a GM car than any FORD or FCA car - both of which are worse than GM. AS far as poor execution - this is more a matter of expectations rather than reality - GM never announced a production date yet.

This us not a production vehicle. Still in development. Not a failure until production versions stall. A friend had a month old MB E-Class that quit on the road and had to be towed. Should MB stop making cars?

No, but they should get it right before putting it into production. The C8 is minutes away from being unveiled and put into production, so this is very bad.

Time to adjust the Corvette plan. Continue the C7 model longer than planned with some updates and current options made standard, at lower prices. When the C8 is ready, and all the bugs worked out, introduce the higher priced versions first, at the same time the lower priced C7 are still being sold.

agree with Vette71, come up with an "add lightness" sport model with out all the weighty options, and price it right and bring the demographic down. and to those hating, 3 numbers/3 letters 911 IMS

GM should have an enclosed emergency truck to pick up any testbed Corvettes that need transportation to the Ford Dealer.

Agree. I believe the 1,000 hp is a high performance version for intro some time after C8 launch. It is likely more efficient to make changes across the line.
That being said, GM is once again showing poor execution.

Also, this should be a Cadillac. Corvette is big V8 front engine with an unmistakable view forward.
