Tesla Model Y Configurator Goes Live - Are You Ready For Your $47,000 Green Deal?

If you are interested in placing an order for the Tesla Model Y and are willing to wait until at least late 2020 for one, you can do so by visiting the automaker’s online configurator and proceed to build your ideal all-electric crossover.

The cheapest version you can order right now is the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive spec, with the standard solid black paint, 18-inch Aero wheels, all-black interior and a five seat configuration.

Its purchase price is $47,000 ($42,700 after est. savings) and you still end up with a range of 300 miles (482 km) and a 5.5-second 0-60 mph (96 km/h) sprint time

tesla stock price down 5 percent today. Analysts were unimpressed with the Y.
Shares down nearly 30 percent since late December. Roh-roh.

The Y needs a true SUV cargo area instead of a coupe roof. Takes the practicality away from the car and will deter some buyers.

This is an epic disaster. This needed to be a real crossover and the Model X needs a redesign to lose the falling roofline and the stupid chicken doors.

@darrigner

Lol. Hardly a disaster. It's going to sell like crazy. You clearly don't know what you're talking about. The Model X outsells the Escalade, the GLS and every other $100k suv. Even though many X's sell for much more than that.

Guarantee this will outsell any other SUV in the US. It is what it needed to be, a low-risk, inexpensive, midized SUV. It's a larger Model 3 with 4x the cargo space and seating for 7. The roof is the best of the entire Tesla lineup, including the S. Check out some photos from the inside, it's insane.

Looks like a sure hit, but showing it this far in advance of availability is going to hurt Model 3 sales with those that will hold off, especially as date approaches.

Maybe it will be popular. It's the end-game of the crossover, a final act where you don't even dress-up pretend off-road capability, towing, or cargo. Brilliantly stupid.

Sorry maybe in the future but not now they still having quality problem , even the blue model Elon show in the presentation if you see the video with details of the lateral side of the car you are able to see the difference between the front and rear door they are not at the same level position and is easy to see when you see the metalic panel on the two doors.
