Latest Software Update Gives Model 3 Owners More Power

Tesla started remotely increasing the power output of all Model 3 vehicles through a software update over a year after starting production.

When the automaker launched the base Model 3 for $35,000 with shorter range and a new interior, it also promised several upgrades to existing Model 3 vehicles through software updates.

The automaker promised an increase in range for all Model 3 vehicles with a Long Range battery pack and rear-wheel-drive motor as well as a peak power increase for all Model 3’s.

Tesla is killing it here in Hong Kong, along with 911s. More Tesla’s on the road than any other luxury brand.

I know -they are everywhere despite the large import duties. Must easily be Tesla's largest market outside of California. Lots in Shenzhen and Shanghai but nowhere like the volume in HK.

Toyota has lots of cool looking vans like the Helix and others and I can't understand why they don't sell them in North America as they are quite popular there too and would sell well???

I wasn't expecting to see Teslas everywhere in Hong Kong, was a nice surprise. If only Hong Kong could control the pollution coming from neighboring Chinese cities. Hong Kong is an amazing place but would be even more beautiful with better visibility. With 90% of people in Hong Kong taking electrified public transit (probably the best subway system in the world) and high EV adoption rates, the issues aren't coming locally.

I didn't get the update yet, but this a great example of how a company can make a car better over time with free OTA updates.

Model 3 Performance is going from a 0-60 of 3.2 to 3.1 seconds.
Model 3 Long Range is going from a 0-60 of 5.1 to 5.0 seconds AND range is going from 310 to 325 miles.
Model 3 AWD and Standard are losing about 0.1 seconds of 0-60

Still waiting for my update for some people have already gotten it. There is also a release working its way around with Navigate on Autopilot without confirmations--the car will change lanes and pass cars without any input on the freeway. That will take some time to get used to but can't wait to test it out.

More power means less range. That is exactly what people do NOT want.

Actually it doesn't. Range is the same, power is added only to max acceleration (you have to floor it).

FYI, the Long Range RWD Model 3 got both a power boost AND an extra 10 miles of range with the update.
