Automakers Scramble As Tesla Effect Takes Hold In Germany
The auto industry saw something historic happen this past week in Germany. In a rare act of unity, the leaders of the country’s big three Automakers; Volkswagen CEO Herbert Diess, Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche, and BMW CEO Harald Krüger, all agreed that the future of German auto is the electric car. Over the next decade, each CEO would be pushing their respective companies to shift and embrace the idea of an electrified fleet.

Tesla effect? Reduced registrations and declining sales? Stock price target reduced to $210/share by analysts(20 percent lower than today's already low price). No profits for at least the first half of 2019? Spontaneous combustion?
Sure, Tesla is the envy of all of Germany.

Fastest growing car company in the world, Q3 and Q4 2018 were profitable, and no one knows the financials for Q1 and Q2 2019 since they haven't been closed yet. The Model S/X are niche but the 3 is starting to take significant sales away from mainstream companies.

Sales and registrations are declining. Model 3 is niche too. If Tesla is so successful why all the price changes in the last two weeks not to mention changing options, closing stores, not closing stores fighting with the SEC?
There are several instances of people orderin cars in 2019 and receivng 2018s.
Why are people not getting their refunds?

What does driving an EV have to do with communism?
Also, communism and socialism are different.

I agree with FAQMD

I am sure by your thought process I have a better education than you. Socialism does not "control the masses." It has higher taxes with greater social benefits.
Bernie is wrong in saying the Nordic countries practice socialism as theu have very free markets.
But please, FAQMD, with your big brain (no doubt covered with foil), explain to me how EVs allow the government to contol you. How does driving to my local Target let the government control me. I think you may have listened to INFOWars too much.

@Truthy Socialism controls people economically. When you crank up taxation you reduce freedom.

That depends. as it is practised in Nordic countries, those with the highest life expectancy, average income and highest scores in the happiness index, they actually have more freedom. Most have fewer regualtions for businesses. The state can and does own shares of companies. Rather than force regualtions they become part of the negotiation. This avoids one size fits all regulations and the government has an interest in the success.
Also, there is a misconception about their national healthcare. There is much more competition by insurance companies than here, creating better benefits at a lower cost through competition. We should allow insurnace companies here to compete nationally instead of state to state.

And speaking of freedom. US companies bought back $255 billion dollars of their stock after the ill-advised tax break last year. Fully 444 of the top 500 companies repurchased shares. This drives up share prices benefitting the top 1.0 percent disproportionately in addition to how the tax breaks were skewed to the top 1.0 percent.
Pensions have disappeared in this country. Poor health can bankrupt a family. Does this sound like freedom?

How does an EV let the government know where you are?
Also, you have a home address I assume, so they know where to send your mail. I don't think the government know or cares where we are most of the time unless you have committed a crime.

Why do you think the government wants to know where you are at all times? I doubt you are that interesting.

"You are entitled to your own opinions, but not to your own facts."
Provide some evidence that EVs report every mile driven to government and how the government manages this database to control you, Alex.

There have been over a million miles driven in the model 3 alone. What would the purpose be of keeping track of miles driven in a tesla?

FAQMD, explain your comment. How am I a dream citizen for government because I do not believe the government tracks every mile driven in an EV vs any other car?

How is the US government oppossed to freedom? The US system of government has allowed us to become the largest economy amd most powerful country in the world and has enabled freedom around the world.
Whereas your hero tRump's preferred rolemodels are dictators who preside over populations with no freedom for their citizens - i.e - Russia, N.Korea, China.

Wow, FAQMD, you "passed" philosophy 101. You and your family must be very proud.
Still, you are unable to articulate why the US government would be interested in only EV mileage. Making vague conspiracy references without details may make you feel as though this is meaningful. However, it is not.
You know nothing of my politics, but because I questioned what the rational would be for the government to follow EV drivers only and how this data would be used you resort to insults.
I'll give you one more chance, why would the government want this information and what would they do with it?
If you cannot provide a coherent explanation, and I do not believe you can, then quit posting such nonsense.

Haha, you moron. None of those comments add up to identifying my politics. They do point out, that you have no idea why thr governments wants to follow EV drivers. Just worthless drivel coming out or your mouth.
Saying, "I'll give you one more chance.." obviously is only something a leftist commie would say.
I'm am glad you surrendered.
