STUD OR DUD? BMW Releases Glimpse Of Upcoming 2021 i4 4-Door

BMW has released pictures of its upcoming, all-electric i4 4-door showing it winter testing in a light disguise. The new model will push the brand’s electric range towards the mainstream market when it arrives in 2021, narrowing the gap between the company’s radical i3 and i8 EVs and its traditional 3 and 5 Series saloons.

The new BMW i4 appears to adopt conventional BMW styling. The enlarged connected kidney grille and narrow headlights seen on recent electric BMW concepts have been ditched in favour of the standard 4 Series Gran Coupe’s body shell.

Unimpressed, but at least it does not appear to be weird looking...

It's a shame it looks nothing like the concept. I wonder what the new 4GC will look like since this looks like tne evolution of that car.

I believe there design chief is correct. As EVs become more common, the need for a novel deign goes away.

Not so sure. Standout designs reconfirm for buyers that they are making a decisive decision on the future direction of the industry and environment. Breaking away from the pack and the past so to speak. The new designs may become the new norm.

Boretastic. It looks 10-15 years old. It does not have to be a rolling freak show like a Prius, but it should be adventurous in its styling and this is utterly terrible.

I doubt that, they mostly repurposed a platform that is not designed for EVs. It will be heavier and have less room than a Model 3, while also having worse performance.

It looks tiny, also I'm doubtful it is truly built from the ground up to be an EV. Doubt it even has a frunk.

One thing that it will have over Tesla is quality workmanship.

@scenicbyway12 That is 100% the truth. This vehicle must be good because SanJoseDrivel appears to be running scared.

Scared? This is mediocre at best.
