Tesla Makes Fun Of RAM's Massive 12,000 LB Towing Capacity, Calling It A Toy

Has Elon Musk just suggested that a Tesla pickup truck will outhaul one of the mighty Ram trucks? That sure seems to be what he's implying in a recent tweet.

First, his words:

12,000 lbs!? How puny. Do you construct children’s toys?

Of course, we need some context here to explain what Musk is referring to, so here's the tweet embedded in full:

Yes, but what will be the total time to get from home to that remote camp site for each in view of the Tesla stopping for recharging, if there are even recharging stations that far from a metropolitan area? The Tesla pickup will be OK for local contractors, if they can afford it.

The coverage map is now getting into places way outside of main cities, plus the Tesla truck will have options for extra range (400-500 miles apparently).

@Truthy You won't see one because Tesla doesn't believe in prototypes and engineering in quality.

What Tesla pickup? I have not seen one, have you? At the rate the actual vehicle showes up after Elon tweets about it is about three years and it will cost twice as much as a Ram.

Okay, I will participate in this idiotic clickbait if you know a small modicum about trucks (like me), Anyone towing 12k LBS is going to buy a 3/4 ton truck. A 3/4 Ton Ram will tow 17,980 lbs. Not to mention a Tesla truck is something make-believe at this point. This is just a typical prattle from Musk trying to get free press, which worked for this site.

That HAS to be the case.

I bet those checks from Elon bounce.

With current battery technology it'll be very hard to develop an electric pickup that can tow 12,000 lbs and have a decent range while towing that. There just isn't enough space in the vehicle to put that many batteries, and the cost would be astronomical as well.

The Model X can already tow a lot more than 12,000 lbs, and has the Guiness world record for EV towing:

Everyone is so down on Tesla, an American manufactured AND engineered car, changing the landscape of the auto business, selling well outside the US... Seems like something that is making America great... why root for it to fail? Because you don't like Elon Musk? I would say they are doing pretty good for coming out of nowhere not so long ago. A pretty amazing story. I imagine there were similar detractors of the light bulb at the time... but that ended up working out pretty well as I imagine Tesla will. I hope Tesla delivers on their truck and it lives up to the promise.

Moron, I did not say invented, if you can read the inference is clear that I was speaking about the adoption of the light bulb instead of candles or gas lights.

People would support Elon and Tesla save for all the sleight if hand. "Give me a $1,000 deposit for a $35,000 car" that still has not been delivered. "I have funding to take Tesla private at $450/share" Oops, a lie.
Wat overpaid 3 years ago for a solar tile company that has not produced a single tile yet. This move made his two cousins who owned said company. We call this fraud.

Eloon Musk is covered with a fine coat of 10-40 oil.
