Porsche Finds Taycan Is Conquesting New Customers And NOT From Tesla

We’ve seen this occur over and over again when it comes to a brand launching its first real electric car. At first, there’s reluctance, but then as the orders begin to pour in then the mood changes.

With Porsche, that’s what’s going on right now with regards to the all-electric Taycan. The Taycan is racking up a huge volume of pre-orders and Porsche is now realizing that the car is drawing new buyers to the brand.

On what basis is the claim that Taycan shoppers are not cross shopping Tesla. In Europ, the numbers are clear. I Europe the Jaguar I-Pace and Audi E-tron are outselling the Tesla S and X models. And they are just being launched. The Porsche will further trend. This is bad news for Tesla as it shows when competition shows up, Tesla takes a big hit. Secondly, these are Tesla's most profitable products. Before SaJoseRunningLogan point out Model 3 sales in Europe are seeing the same trend as in the US, 3 years of backlog crammed into one quarter of deliveries and fanboys claiming it is the best selling car ever.
When normal sales patterns settle in late in the second quarter it will decline and new competition is coming online now. tick-tock.

The Taycan and E Tron GT both look amazing inside and out. Both will find success in the market, and Tesla will have to compete on product and price with both of them. The "coolness" of the Tesla brand and the buzz created by Elon Musk will no longer be enough.

I had a 997 Turbo and bought 2 Model 3s before taking a test drive (RWD for wife, P+ for me). By far the P+ is the best car in term of performance and technology. Porsche has better seats, that's it.

Had some interest in the original Mission E, but will pass on the Taycan as shown - it's not worth the price considering Tesla offering far more performance and tech for less money. The Mission E has style that can be worth considering, but not the Taycan version.

I can imagine someone wanting a luxury EV, looking at the Tesla interior and build quality and then running to the Porsche.

This article states nothing about conquest sales from non-Tesla brands. Just attracting new customer to the Porsche brand. Sheesh.

We should all just save time and go to INSIDEEVS.com and more than half the articles on autospies are from there or Teslarati.com.

Well perhaps this is accurate for now. Once it is on sale I think it will snare Tesla owners and shoppers. Porsche just needs to price it right.
