Toyota Says New Tundra Under Development Will Shake Up The Market
Toyota spokesperson announced at the 2019 Denver Auto Show that the next generation of its aging, yet capable full-size Tundra pickup is in the works, and that there will be serious alterations made to the truck.

"I can tell you that we are constantly in development for the new products, Tundra is in development, but I have no idea when we plan to launch, but I would also recommend to keep your eyes peeled on that vehicle if you see any information come out, because expect some big changes on Tundra the next time around," said Toyota spokesperson David Lee in a presentation Wednesday.

Wow! A car spokesperson telling us that the next generation of an aging model will be vastly improved but they cannot tell us when it will be introduced. Wow! Who would have thunk?

Well the current one was a rather lackluster restyling of the one before it, so I'm not expecting much.

A truck is a truck is a truck. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Thank you for your snobbery.

An interesting comment

At one level- a dictionary term - it is true - but it completely ignores that even in the Truck Business - there are LOTS of things to differentiate the trucks of Major Manufacturers. All trucks are not the same - which is WHY people buy different classes of trucks as well as different Manufacturers as well.

For example - recently MY company bought a large number of new GM Trucks based largely on two things - 1 - the bed is at least 12 inches wider between the wheels than any other full size pick up - and 2 - We still preferred a non-Turbo engine. Recent reviews of these trucks failed to take that into account.

The current Tundra is weak up front. It did not pass the small overlap crash test. The A-Pillar collapsed on the passenger side. It is a hard test as the barrier only goes as deep as the headlight. As a Toyota fan that was hard to watch. But other full size trucks passed. It needs a redo.

Toyota should call it quits and go with a refendered American pickup.

If they were flying them or boating them in from Japan that might be an option. But with a big old truck plant in Texas, they are going to keep making them.

They can build something else there obviously.

@MD- Who would sell them a truck to refender? Ford? GM? FCA? Full Size trucks are the pride of the fleet in terms of sales and profits? Ford will sell or build VW Pickups based on the Ranger, but would they do so with the F150? I highly doubt it. Toyota has no choice but to build a better truck next time around.

The obvious choice would be Ram because that would be a sizable chunk that FCA needs in the pickup wars.

GM is another logical choice given that they have worked together in the past.

Both the Ram the Sierrado are far better in every parameter than the Tundra.

Ford is probably unlikely given VW.

PS: You do recall that the Nissan Titan very nearly became a refendered Ram and when that fell through due to Sergio, the ratty old Titan was restyled into the supposedly all-new Titan.

Toyota is going to 'shake up the market?'
Are they bringing out a truck that does not use shock absorbers?
