SHOCKING! Next Gen Fiat 500 To Become An Urban Tesla

The next generation of the Fiat 500 will take a big step toward a greener future by becoming the Italian automaker's battery-electric luxury hatchback, Auto Express reports. Fiat showed off an electric Centoventi concept at the Geneva auto show this month as a preview of the replacement for the current-generation Panda hatch, but the electric drivetrain of the concept also gave the automotive world a taste of the next-gen Cinquecento.

"Premium is the way we will go with the EV 500," Fiat and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Chief Marketing Officer Olivier Francois told Auto Express.

"A new 500, totally renewed. A new object. Totally electric," he added. "It’s kind of an urban Tesla, with beautiful style. Italianess, dolce vita in an electric car. It's the polar opposite of Centoventi."

Small niche, electric cars to be the best at. Blackberry phones were the best smartphones until real competition came about. I predict a similiar fate for you beloved tesla.

Not necessarily the best. Rather its just that they have been first for a number of years so they are far ahead of the competition.

Black a pillars: Ford Flex, Land Rover, Scion XB, Mini Cooper but only the Kia Soul's A pillars are accused of copying because it is Korean and allowing the Nissan Z and Nissab Maxima to get away with it.

First at full scale production EV's. Tesla regardless of their production issues are still at the forefront of dedicated EV platforms, batteries, charging station's etc. Everyone else is playing catch up. And unlike other car makers Tesla does not need to worry about continuing to produce petrol vehicles until the general population can accept the whole scale move to EV's. Further because they have been the only major player in the EV game for the last 5 years Tesla has been able to build up a following of ownership. So even when some of these major car makers come on line with Tesla rivaling products the assumption that Tesla followers will suddenly switch to Porsche, Audi, BMW etc. maybe a false narrative. Personally I think the Model 3 and Y are ugly looking vehicles. But there are a lot of people that swear by them production quality issue's and all.
