Wonder How Fast That Model 3 Runs On A Track? You Are About To Find Out...
People continue to complain about the handling prowess of the Tesla Model S and Model X. It’s by no means bad, especially for a family sedan and a large crossover. Tesla didn’t design either car as a sports car, though both are ridiculously fast. Ever since Tesla’s two flagship vehicles emerged and have been destroying gas-powered cars on the straight-away, skeptics have asserted that the cars just can’t keep up when it comes to true track driving. Many rivals’ models are just more nimble and boast greater endurance.

Tesla has provided a solution to the above concerns in the form of its Tesla Model 3. Sure, it’s also quick off the line, but where it really shines is in a track situation. This is because it’s impressively agile and can go on and on without worry of the battery overheating. Erik Strait enjoyed the unique opportunity to be a passenger in his own Model 3 Performance while Motor Trend’s Randy Pobst took the car out for some track racing.

yes, electric motors have a lot of torque. There is much, much more to driving engagement than fast acceleration. In a analysis of crashed Tesla nearly all have front end damage, an indication that people cannot handle the accleration and the brakes are inadequate. The insurance companies are taking note and soon auto insurance for Tesla will rise dramatically.

Looks like a solid track car, not bad for $60k.

Less than 200 tesla Model X and S sold in German YTD in 2019. Jaguar and Audi are increasing their sales leads. Model 3 competitors are coming on stream. Roh-roh.

Sales dropping fast? Lol. Don't be silly.

Due to pipeline filling from 3 years of backlog. As in the Us and Norway, once they fill the 3 year backlog in one month, then the sales crater.

What can I say, I'm disappointed with the Q1 numbers. Q2 should be better and am hoping to go to the investor Autopilot event later in April. Later today will test out the new Autopilot functionality going out to every Model 3.

The Porshe Taycan will traverse racetracks much faster, accelerate faster.
The upcomingI Pace Performnc version will easily out-accelerate every TEsla vehicle ever made, or will make, including it sports car. Sorry, Tesla owner, but your bragging is coming to an end. T

I'm still waiting. In the meantime I will enjoy every moment with my P3D+.

Competition is good. Tesla's mission is to displace ICEV and every carmaker must join the rEVolution. ICEV will go extinct soon.

You wouldn't take a Model S to the track, really the Taycan will be competing with the $60k Model 3 for track purposes. If you think the Model 3 with 325 miles of range won't last a full race, the Taycan will get 260 miles at best on the EPA cycle.

Tesla stock down 10 percent already this morning! Deliveries well below projections and the S and X - the ones amking some profit - have really dived. Analysts point to poor product mix, over-reliance on carbon credit sales and tax incentives and Elon not being specific regarding cash on hand, something fairly standard in financial reports and an indication he does not have enough.

Nice job Tesla. Will be good to see more competition when the rest of the US car companies, the Germans, the Japanese, the Koreans and others get in gear. Hopefully Tesla continues it's evolution into a great American car company. Kinda fun seeing US cars getting a lot of attention and respect outside the US for a change. When is the last time you could say that about a mid sized American sedan?? Oh @Jazzyjazz the US government also supports big oil via subsidies and many other ways including some of our rationalization for mid-east involvement. Not a simple zero sum game of take from here and give there.

Direct subsidies include ""Intangible drilling costs" $3.5B, Royalty Payment Reductions on Federal Land (our land by the way) $2.2B, Depletion Allowance $1B, Domestic Manufacturing Deduction $1.7B, Misc smaller subsidies add up to about $18.5B a year of direct subsidies which is the low end of the estimates and does not include indirect subsidies or the cost of keeping oil lanes open etc... I doubt we would be so involved in the Middle East if it was not for oil. I am not against oil (although I don't like the impact they have) I say end all subsidies for all forms of energy and let the free market decide. Also have the same emissions standards per btu so that we don't just shift pollution to a power plant outside of the major cities.
