Want To Know What The Future Of Electric Cars Holds? Look To China And Find Out
Is the future of electric cars in China? If you only look at sales numbers, it certainly seems so. In 2018, more electric cars were sold in China than in the rest of the world combined.

Government policy—rather than market economics—created the electric car boom there. For nearly a decade, China’s government has poured money into the EV industry, offering generous tax incentives and subsidies for car makers and consumers, building charging infrastructures across the country, and placing restrictions on the sales and use of gasoline cars.

Sure, not having to worry about oil prices, existing auto industry, petroleum industries influence on political parties...

So whatever your king has decided is it. See, Communism isn’t all bad.

Kinda like those windmills in central California and rural Illinois. Without generous - really generous - tax incentives they are not viable. The largest manufacturer of these eyesores, a German company, actually stopped making them. Parts will eventually become scarce. We will be left with thousands of these dotting the landscape/

It is more than charging stations and subsidies. You can only drive your ICE car on a certain days. And it is $10K to get a license for an ICE vehicle. For those who have gone to major cities in China on business, you know how bad the air quality is. This is China trying to save its own environment and the health of its people. They likely still have a ticking time bomb of lung cancer stalking their urban population.

WE are not China - where a central government controls a closed economy - can tell people what to buy - and tell companies what to charge because they OWN at least part of every one. China will have areas where only EVs and Hybrids will be sold because their Air QUality is among the worst in the world - maybe India is the worst.

In the USA - the California State government - because of its air quality - can set stronger laws to reduce emissions not just in car - but also in factories - and the Federal Government generally cannot stop them. But - we are by no means anything like China

China may succeed in improving their air quality. There waterways may take longer. But they are trying, partly as the result of the Paris agreement. Most of India is like an open sewer. There is no political will to do anything concrete as all 29 states are very independent with many ethnic groups, religions, etc.
If you ever have the opportunity to visit, don't.
