Tesla Deep Sixes $35,000 Model 3 To Drive Demand To More Expensive Models
Tesla Inc. announced changes to its vehicle lineup and pricing, including ending online sales of the bottom-of-the-range $35,000 car, in an effort to drive demand after disappointing first-quarter deliveries.

All Tesla vehicles now come with the Autopilot driver-assistance feature as standard, the company said in a blog post late Thursday. The Model 3 with the so-called Standard Plus battery range used to cost $37,500, plus $3,000 for Autopilot. It now costs $39,500 with Autopilot included.

Quel surprise!

Autospies 'Top-Tip' - if you are a deposit holder for a 'cheap' Model 3, you should probably ask for your deposit back or else purchase the $60,000 Model 3 (lots of those available)

Ha ha ha ha....There never was a $35.000 model. The whole enterprise was a bait and switch scam. Elon should refund every deposit that supposedly 400,000 people forked over for a promised $35 K car. He pushed many to a more expensive version.
How will all the fanboys here spin this into a positive?

If you had read the blog post you would have seen for yourself that there's no reason to spin.

That is actually not true. You can buy the $35,000 car today, right now.

It is actually a better car than what was promised since it is a software locked version of the $37,000 car with the same upgraded seats and interior. You also have the option to unlock the extra functionality and range in the future.

Tesla is not promoting that option, you have to call in or go to a store to get it, but the $35k car is shipping this weekend and anyone can still buy it right now.

Cannot order online, only thru dealers which they are discontinuing. I went to a dealer to a dealer today who told me they do not have any to sell.
Another Elon game.

Truthy, you are just making stuff up now. There are no Tesla dealers, they are stores and they will put in an order for you if you want the $35k car. There are no inventory base cars, they all need to be ordered on the phone or through a store.

Looks like Tesla isn't immune to the usual "bait and switch" shit. If the government really wanted to push electric powered cars over gas, they would just pass a law that would say, no new gas stations could be created, we already have enough, just build charging stations. By the time, that the market sorts it out, there will be lines at the already scarce charging stations, and the price of electricity will go through the roof. But I digress.

The number of gas stations have already been declining in the US for the past 5+ years while the number of electric car stations are doubling every 2 years. Unlike gas stations, their cost to build and upkeep is very low so they will long outlive their ancient counterparts.

Headline is not true. $35k Model 3 will remain on sale.

Like Elon, you are semantically tricky. It is not available online, only thru dealers who are discouraged to sell the base, only upsell.

Oh, and they are trying to close the dealer. This crook took deposits on the promise of a $35 K car he never intended to deliver.

So far only a few stores closed down.

How many gas stations in the US versus charging stations? And don't buy Elon's promise of doubling charging stations. He has only built 10 percent of those promised for 2019 (we are nearly 1/3 thru the year) and Tesla has a cash crunch.

The $35K car may still be available, but lots of features will be removed , including range, good luck in buying one... all those who put down deposit for the cheapest car may not get it...
The guy is a ttral fraud, both Tesla and Musk...

That is total bullshit. Not a single feature was removed from the $35k car, not one. The range is 220 miles, what was always promised. 0-60 is 5.6 seconds.

Instead they ADDED:
- Pano roof
- Premium seats (vs. cloth)
- Heated mirrors
- Center console
- Premium trim

The battery is also a software locked version of what is on the $39k car, meaning you can upgrade to get the extra range in the future. Those who waited, ended up getting the best deal.

Totally false for people to say that the $35k car is available.

On the Telsa website, cheapest model 3 car today is $39,500 + $1,200 delivery fee.

You have to call or order from the store, it is available today, just not promoted.

Honestly why offer it in the first place. The car is just not cost effective to support a 35K price. 40 to 45K is probably the sweet spot for them anyway.
