DRIVEN: The All-new Mazda 3 JUST Might Have The Zoom-Zoom You're Looking For
When it comes to entry-level sedans, the Mazda 3 has always been a compelling product. That's because it typically delivers on several fronts.

First, it usually has a sharp design. Second, it typically has a peppy motor and slightly better driving dynamics than the competition. Last, but not least, its interior is more refined.

And Mazda continues to raise the bar.

Now that the all-new 2019 Mazda 3 is here, check out one of the first video reviews brought to us by CNET's Roadshow.

The new 2019 Mazda3 sedan delivers a healthy helping of style, performance and tech. The Mazda 3 has always been the driver's car of the compact class. This new one is, too, but in a different way.

Looks wise it is not too bad inside and out, front looks good, the profile is a bit slab sided but not bad, maybe in a different color it would be better. The rear has too much empty space which makes it look big arsed. Exterior a B. The interior is a pretty nice move forward but the infotainment system iPad on the dash seems oddly integrated. Interior a B+. Still it seems like the Mazda 3 has always been like 8/10ths of the way there but never quite makes it the last couple tenths. Will be interesting to see how the new one does once it is widely reviewed and real owners voice their opinions.

It might have the zoom , but the hatchback is ugly.

It really is too bad that Sergio didn't leverage the Mazda3 for a new Giulietta and the Mazda6 as the Giulia both with AWD and turbos with near-premium placement. Imagine the Mazda crossovers reimagined as Alfa Romeos. Alfa sales would be on fire.

I think Mazda makes by far the nicest designed cars and suv's. To me they are styled as though they are an Italian brand. If I were the CEO, I would go rear wheel drive platform only and they would murder the Japanese budget market.

Well said!

The past generation or two of its designs across the brand have a little Italian flare in them if you look close.

The 3 sedan is quite nice but the Kardashian ass of the hatch is just awkward and ugly. Of all the Asian brands Mazda have the best styling and make fun to drive products and I don't understand why they are not more popular.

same here...theyre reliable and should be way more popular...I guess it comes down to advertising budget. My first car was a 323....that thing was bullet proof. I actually flipped it on its side into a ditch, had a wrecker pull me out...bought one new tire and drove it to court the same day...when I was 18. It never let me down no matter how crappy I treated it as a young buck.

Indeed! Mazda's styling has matured for the better in recent years.

@Runamukk — glad you were able to skirt free of that incident without any major issues!

The new 3 is great in the metal. The surfacing is outstanding and looks premium. Put a triangle on the front it could be an Alfa.
But the GRI would still be my choice. It feels more sorted.

Different cars completely. If Mazda still made the Speed3 it would compete with those 2 cars and would have better reliability than the VW and possibly the Honda as well as the Civics are having valve issues...

That gray metallic exterior with the burgundy red leather interior is quite a nice combo.
