#NYIAS: MORE LEAKS! Even More Pictures Of The All-new Mercedes GLS — Does This Change...ANYTHING?
Last night was an interesting one. That's because pictures of the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class leaked before its reveal.

We LOVE when that happens.

2019 New York Auto Show Preview

But, in all honesty, the first batch weren't brilliant. They were low quality shots and only showed limited colors/angles. This new batch, however, gives us a better idea.

Of course we're still waiting to see more and when Agent 001 gets on the scene it'll be an entirely different story. Having said that, this second batch is the latest.

So, does this change ANYTHING since you first saw the all-new GLS?

I see some QX80 from the rear 3/4 shot

Most of the exterior has been rounded with a "squarish" perspective. However, it looks good. Safe. Not too dramatic or dynamic. Seems like a fairly good revision based on a revised or new platform. The exterior design can last 4-5 years & still seem fresh. The interior instrument panels are polarizing. Dripping in plenty of lux/tech.

Can't wait to see the Merc-AMG version.

It also subtly compliments the revised GLB too.

Yes I think this will undoubtedly age better than the competition which includes the polarizing Bimmer pig snout grille and chromed our American offerings.

I’m also excited to see the Maybach and AMG variation of this.

One thing has been clarified - if you buy the cheapo one with the 19" rims and choose a drab color, such as black - people might think you are driving a Honda Pilot.

What's with that weird handle in the middle of the console?

Don’t like this grille. Put AMG trim grille and it will look better.

I think it makes it look worse, with this new batch of images. The X7 should stomp all over this. Holding aside exceptions for those who want a more subdued road presence, but that's probably in the minority for a car like this.

My first impression was: Looks like an Honda Pilot.

So, I don't disagree that this isn't the world's flashiest large SUV. But, Mercedes isn't known for flash and in some ways, that's what the G-Wagen is for. The two approaches (GLS and G) balance each other well in the lineup to give the buyer a pretty clear choice based on his/her tastes. The new GLE didn't strike me as an attractive SUV at first, but after seeing the details and seeing it more and more, it's probably the most attractive SUV in its class. My feeling is the GLS may do the same...MAY.

The basic version without the bigger rims and in a dark color is a dead ringer for a Honda Pilot. I really like the nicely optioned version with the bigger rims and white or gray color. I believe the BMW X7 is too polarizing, while Mercedes appropriately played it safe with the new GLS.

I'll let sales do the talking but this should hold up well next to the massive grilled BMW X7

Should've kept the round vents
