Chinese Soccer Moms Weep With Joy: Lexus Reveals First Ever Minivan

Chinese Soccer Moms Weep With Joy: Lexus Reveals First Ever Minivan
We interrupt your regular Tuesday to bring you the first-ever Lexus minivan live from the Auto Shanghai 2019. Obviously based on the Alphard as we predicted based on those shadowy teasers, the new posh MPV comes with a giant spindle grille that will make the BMW 7 Series LCI’s kidneys seem small. Plenty of chrome accents at the front, side, and rear further accentuate this isn’t your run-of-the-mill Toyota, while the chrome-plated grille is a sight to behold, for better or for worse.

A Third-World crap box for people who have slightly more money but no sense of taste.

Funny, Lexus can do a huge grill and hide the front crash bar behind it, but Ford could not do that with the Focus RS. It would look 10X cooler.

It may be completely garish on the outside but that interior is absolute luxury... big screen monitor and all.

When seen from the side - it looks like 2 different vehicles were spliced together - really odd looking....the wheels look tiny....not to mention the overly oversized predator grill....really an ugly vehicle

WTF is this thing. Seats only 4? That's not what "minivans" are for. Inside there are certainly some nifty ideas like the privacy wall and the reclining seats. But that's not why people invest in minivans. This reminds me of the failed Range Rover Sport 2-door in its intent but its execution was not ideal. If I have money, want to be limo'd around in luxury, do I want it to be in a minivan? An absolutely horrid looking minivan at that?

I thought the same thing, then I saw a better writeup on another site. It also offers a typical 7 passenger setup. The four seat config is a "chauffeur" special config.

And yes, it's horrid looking...

I think this is a great idea, not very well executed (ie UGLY). Rolls Royce, Bentley etc... should do something similar. Lots of room for luxurious touches,

This should've been an April 1st reveal! Then at least LexSux would have an 'out'.

I am not so sure
Buick sells a Mini-van that is set-up as a Luxury barge - and it sells quite well in China - but Toyota has a problem in China - and I am not sure they could overcome that snout easily.

Do people who buy minivans care how big the wheels look?

With the 1-kid policy there, don't think this is to be used in the same way here... Rather, this is to be used for business transportation.

Maybe they should hire a designer.

The front grill is NOT BIG ENOUGH. Lexless need to just wrap a Cyclone Fence around the entire front of their cars to make them look right.
