New Render Details Nose Of New C8 Corvette Minus Camouflage
Now that the automotive world knows for certain that the mid-engined C8 Corvette debuts on July 18, the already simmering excitement for the new model is reaching a boiling point. A new render from the user Chazcron on Mid-engine Corvette Forum imagines how the front end looks when the camouflage is gone.

Chevrolet's own images provide a pretty good look at the mid-engined 'Vette's nose, but the camouflage hides the exact details. Depending on the angle, it's clear there are some crisp creases in the hood, and Chazcron incorporates them into this rendering. The headlights feature running lights that follow the inside and outside of the body. These elements come to a point and follow a crease in the fenders.

A statement car for sure.

The nose isn't the issue really. The side is simply too long after the doors. I'd have extended the roofline and added faux rear seat windows to hide the ungainliness that mid-engined cars can have.

Prettier than an Enzo, but it has similarly unfortunate proportions. Too short in front and too long in the rear. I highly doubt any group of Corvette owners would have stated their desire for a mid engined car if polled.

Our sales were going up based on the looks and the serious engineering flaws of the C8 and when it was announced that the C7 is being killed this summer, the folks have been emailing like mad. I'm glad I have a Z06 tucked away.

Change doesn't come easily for the old guard but I suspect the coming of age generation will embrace the Corvette as those that proceeded it.

@PUG - Would you hold the same opinion if the next 911 had an engine in the front and thus did not look like an 911 anymore?

@Pug This isn't an "old guard" issue. The C7 has vastly better stance and proportion than the C8. Meanwhile, we know that the C8 has massive electrical issues and that its unibody is so flexible that an engine can torque bend it. There are valid reservations to the C8.

Moreover, very few "new guard" like me are even interested in a Corvette.

So, may I interest you in the FWD, Golf-based Porsche 911?

1) Matt your too old to be "new guard".

2) Canadian Comments I get your point about 911. However the greatest performance cars are all mid-engine and that's the way and why Corvette is going to keep up. Would 911 owners really care if rear engine 911's became mid-engine to improve performance, likely not. But your point is taken.

Like I said Matt you are too old....the new guard/generation doesn't trust anyone 30 or over. Get over it.

@pug You clearly know NOTHING about the Corvette's demographics. The average age is around 60 and that is the old guard. The largest segment--and it's tiny--of young Corvette buyers is mid-thirties. That is the Corvette's young guard you ignorant prattling old fool.

@HoustonMidtown and your pissy pansy remark means that you sank to the level of 12 rhetorically. Just face it. I'm better than you.

The only statement C8 can make is if it's lighter than those European precedents. Otherwise.... why bother?

I have a feeling the exterior C8 dimensions will match up favorably with other rear-engine supercars on the road today.

But that won't make it good looking.

The C8 looks ugly and probably will still smell like glue just like every other previous Corvette does. Further it is probably going to cost a lot more than the C7. However it will probably have great cornering capability. Of course if any typical Corvette buyer(65 plus) would actually take it up to speed around an S turn they would probably die of high blood pressure or motion sickness.

"And like all TVRs, it smells of glue and parts of the body are falling off."
