Los Angeles Adopts A Green New Deal - 100% Zero Emission Vehicles By 2050
Los Angeles has updated its city sustainability plan with a number of ambitious goals for electric vehicles and renewable energy, calling it “L.A.’s Green New Deal.”

Mayor Eric Garcetti has unveiled a number of new targets in the updated plan. The city aims to increase the percentage of electric and zero emission vehicles in the city to 25% by 2025, 80% by 2035, and 100% by 2050.

Los Angeles also wants to install 10,000 publicly available EV chargers by 2022; and 28,000 chargers by 2028.

In a way this is necessary, as LA is so fucked up.

Keeping industrial zone right at the center of a metropolitan area is simply crazy. And don't expect anything can be done with Dem. in charge.

Reagan was a republican who could not do anything about the Industrial Zone when he was governor as well. In fact - there were quite a few Republican Governors since Reagan that could not change this - Dukemejian, Wilson, Swarzenegger . In fact since 1943 - the number of Republican Governor YEARS has been about equal to the Dems. THis is not a political side issue - it still remains caused by the line of Mountains that prevent the prevailing wind from moving low lying emissions past them - something that is not going to change any time in my lifetime either.

It remains that while there have been Progressive Democrats - there has NEVER been a true successful large Socialist Government in the world - and no US Democrat has ever tried to establish one in the USA(It would require a new Constitution among other things) - the suggestion alone shows the lack of knowledge of the suggester.

Again - it remains that the CO2 emissions to produce the Lithium, Cobalt, and rare earth elements for an EV are HIGHER than the lifetime emissions of today's ICE cars - so the EV is just moving the emissions to another place - AND THAT does not take into account where the electric is coming from.

TomM: you are correct about C02 emissions in relation to Lithium, Cobalt, etc. I am all for electric cars. I can recognize the hidden emissions associated with them.
It is the fanboys that would have you think that EV's are the perfect mode of transportation.
