"We Will Not Cede Our Leadership Role" When GM CEO Questioned On EV Trucks - Wait,, Aren't They In Third Place In Full Sized Sales?

General Motors CEO Mary Barra on Tuesday attempted to address any concerns that the automaker could be behind on the development and deployment of an all-electric pickup.

Barra, while discussing GM's first-quarter earnings, said the automaker has an "industry-leading" truck franchise as well as EV capability. The company, she said, "will not cede our leadership on either front."

“We intend to create an all-electric future that includes a complete range of EVs, including full-size pickups,” she said on a conference call. GM, she said, will share additional information on its plans "when competitively appropriate."

Technically if you combine all brands and classes GM does lead, but they only lead in midsized sale among the detroit three when broken out.

GM's leadership role is how to get to third place.

Mary Barra is powerfully inept. GM is far worse under her incoherent leadership. Cadillac went from bad to worse off. Buick is largely irrelevant because Chevrolet and Cadillac step on its market. Chevrolet is losing ground as a mainstream brand.

Ram is still in third place.

However - GENERAL MOTORS Pick Up Trucks are only behind FORD and well ahead of RAM. It just happens that Gm has TWO brands that split the sales. This time around - it appears that GMC has the more desirable product.

ANd truthy is correct - In 2018 - CHevrolet sold more Full size Pick ups than RAM

WHile in 2019 first quarter - Ram did overtake Chevy for Full size - this was during the Chevy rollout of the new Truck - where they had limited inventory AND limited models available compared to Ram.

The 2019 Ram n GM trucks have been on similar ramp up schedules with delays on Rams hybrid. They both are selling older 2018 trucks as classics with all body styles available and HD trucks too.

So GM has no excuse for Chevy trucks being in 3rd behind Ram because Chevy interior looks old.. The 2.7L turbo 4 is poor perf and Chevy trucks are UGLY....!!!!

Yes and GMs leadership means more hideous styling and crappy “Jet Black” interiors. GMs leadership is pathetic and incompetent.. there is only 1 vehicle I’m interested in and it’s on the way out the door. CTS-V
