Watch This Tesla Model S Driver Survive A Fatal Head On Crash
One Tesla Model S driver in Spain is probably counting his blessings right now after surviving a violent crash in a Barcelona tunnel last week. As seen in the surveillance video below, a gray station wagon appears to slowly drift into the oncoming lane, hits the side of a black compact, then smashes head-on into the white Tesla sedan.

After impact, the electric sedan bounces off the side of the tunnel while the station wagon is flung to the opposing side, highlighting just how severe the impact was. Pictures of the aftermath posted to Forocoches.com show a barely-recognizable, airbags-deployed Model S front-end. The station wagon's engine was also completely thrown out of the car.

Thank God Tesla invented airbags and safety cages. No one has ever survived a head-on crash before. I hope they share this unique saftey technology with other automakers before they all go out of business next year for not rushing to abandon ICEs for EVs.

Steps to improve vehicle safety:
- Remove the big old block of iron up front and use the space to design a proper crumble zone.
- Re-enforce the body structure with the skateboard battery pack whose additional benefit is a lower center of gravity that helps with better handling and near-zero chance of flipping over
- Add electric motors (one for each end preferably) and independent suspensions
- Redesign the dashboard to eliminate clutter, knobs, buttons, ...
- Add a suite of software that controls vehicle dynamics to take advantage of the inherent benefits of electric motors (acceleration, regen braking, traction controls,...) plus navigation, driving aids, ...
- Implement OTA updates to provide continuous improvements to the vehicle

The above is the blueprint for building a safe car. Note the first requirement is the removal of the engine.

So, you are saying that a front engine car is unsafe? My wife's Acura has 5 star ratings all around. Many cars, MB, Audi, Lexus have great safety ratings. They all have engines up front.
Did Tesla invent the crumple zone too?

While some posters (who shall remain nameless) complain a bit about the IIHS tests and the car safety rankings, here you can see an offset crash in real life where the drives side unibody structure takes all the forces from the crash.

Thank you Tesla for showing the rest of the industry what a true EV design means in real life safety. I sleep soundly knowing my kids are riding in my Model 3.

Well then that is one way to improve the drab looks of a model 3!

For those who can't read the car in the video is a white Tesla Model S.

The stupid Tesla driver and the worthless Tesla accident avoidance system did NOTHING in a defensive move to avoid the oncoming out of lane car.
NOTHING! Tesla 'safety' is a promised unfulfilled.

Ahhh, they were in a tunnel with a solid wall to the right. There was no place to go defensively!

Call my whatever you want, but that's your self-projection talking.

No I'm not going to retract because YOU cannot see the contradiction.

In fact, you affirmed what I said because you're too stupid to see how your own words betrayed you. When you said "Let me put this in language you might understand: The Tesla driver lived. The driver of the other car died", that goes to the heart and soul of my point and your words stand with me.

You betrayed yourself.

You're slow on the uptake. I know this will be hard for you to follow as a former rider on the short, yellow bus. If the Tesla driver lived, it was not fatal for him. The headline is an oxymoron. Because of poor grammar, the title suggests an impossibility i.e. that the Tesla driver simultaneously died and lived.

Because of your hatred for me and your greedy rush to attempt to put me down for not seeing clearly--OH THE IRONY--you blissfully strolled past the immorality of diminishing the loss of life to glorify Tesla. THAT is the real sin.

Go ahead. Call me a dick, but it's preferable to being unintelligent like you.
