TRUCK WARS! WHO Did It Better? Based On LOOKS Alone, Who Wins? BMW X7 vs. Kia Telluride?
Although some folks may not agree with us, here at AutoSpies, we place a premium on styling. That's because price and exterior design are the biggest drivers of adoption.

The latest surveys don't lie, folks. People still want to be seen in a vehicle with a strong look. In this day and age, people want to show up and leave an impression.

BMW X7 vs. Kia Telluride

That said, we recently had the chance to see the all-new Kia Telluride next to the all-new BMW X7.

While it's safe to say the Kia takes a bit of creative license from the GMC Yukon Denali and the last-gen Volvo XC90, the end result is uniquely Kia. And, it's got a premium touch to it. The BMW X7, on the other hand, leans on traditional cues from the blue and white. With squinted headlights and massive front kidney grilles inspired by the latest 7-Series, there's no mistaking what this vehicle is as it's coming down the main boulevard.

All said and done, however, we want to know: Based on LOOKS alone, which SUV takes the DESIGN crown? The X7 or the Telluride?

The rear 3/4 view of the Telluride shows a weird bulge under the liftgate glass, from taillight to taillight.

Neither.

Ewwww...the Telluride is the rare vehicle that looks better in pictures. Now that I'm seeing them on the street, it looks more and more like Chevy Chase's "Sportwagon Family Truckster" from the "National Lampoon Vacation" movie.

The Telluride has some VERY ODD styling cues plastered onto it.

Not impressed with either. Not that there are tons of attractive large SUVs out there. But in photos, the GLS looks the best, IMO. Or a Range Rover.

I think the Telluride wins but the X7 is gorgeous in person. Both vehicles are 100% more appealing in person.

Agreed. In M-Sport package, the X7 looks great in person.

I have already seen two in my travels in my area. Darker colours. It is fine from the sides and teh rear but I always think it looks like a domestic from the front. I can see that being changed in 2 years. I'd like a Cayenne but someone in my neighbourhood had an engine replaced under warranty. Not cool. A 2021 6th Gen 4Runner will have to do.

I'm sure the wife will be eyeing this as fewer and fewer booster seats are needed.

Telluride is a hell of a deal compared to the X7, but neither are stunners in the looks dept. Biggest drawback of the Telluride is it's front wheel biased. No thanks.

That is only true is you're autocrossing them, but in terms of platform design, FWD is a better architecture for an AWD design.

OttoC stole my thunder..I second his view. (BTW, I work for a GMW retailer and we just received a couple of the 2020 7-Series..it is horribly appalling in person.)

Hats off to Kia. Their designs are interesting and different (unlike Audi for example) and making the Brand a part of conversations. Not that long ago we wouldn't be saying Kia and BMW in the same sentence.

Agreed. Who would have thought 5 or 10 years ago that we’d be comparing the two brands.
Now IMHO the Kia looks better but if I had the money I’d buy the Bimmer.

Arguably the Stinger is better looking than the infinitely dull new 3 Series.

honestly, who's cross-shopping X7 vs Telluride? Yes, they're both big SUV's but they are definitely different beasts.

for cheaper simplicity, choose the Telleride. for a content-loaded luxo carriage, choose the X7M.
