The protests underscore the challenge for Uber of finding a way to lower driver costs in order to become profitable and paying drivers enough to retain their services.

Are Uber Drivers BITING The Hand That Feeds Ahead Of Its IPO?

99% of the drivers work hard. You can tell it's a lousy job because Uber / Lyft are always looking for drivers. Their voice needs to be heard. I hope no one buys the stock..... Of course I am wrong. The Wall Street insiders will be all over the IPO and flip the stock in minutes for big profit.

I hear you but, anecdotally, I've spoken with a ton of my drivers from Uber — I am a power user.

The reality is this: If you're relying on Uber as your sole source of income, you need to work 10+ hours/daily for 5-6 days/week.

If drivers approach it with with an attitude that they can work 6-8 hours/daily and only work 5 days a week, then it's not the platform for them. These are the drivers I come across most and they're extremely unhappy.

The drivers I have met that put in 10-12 hours and work the rush hours are extremely happy. I've met several veterans (20+ years driving taxis or working for a black car service) that said they were happy for the first time in their careers using Uber. But, they noted you have to put the time in and be strategic in your approach (locations and covering the rush hours).
