Buick Breaks Free Of Sharing Sibling Designs And Approves New Compact Crossover

Buick has experienced three years of consecutive sales declines in the United States and that trend will likely continue now that the LaCrosse has been phased out.

While it looks like a troubling time for the brand, there’s a lot of optimism for an usual reason. According Car Design News, GM’s sale of Opel and Vauxhall means that Buick designers finally have the freedom to give models a unique look that isn’t dictated by designers overseas. As a result, Buick’s executive design director Helen Emsley told the publication “This is a really important time for Buick.”

They will still be tarted up Chevys. Just because they are not teamed with Opel does not mean that Buick will be any different than before. GM is in real danger.

Buick needs:

EV coupesedan / Electra
large sedan / Park Avenue
coupecrossover / Riviera

It appears based on statements - that Cadillac is returning to being American Luxury finally. I do not believe that Buick was kept for American sales - it remains the big seller in China BUT- it appears that American sales are now falling off dramatically there.

However - I do not believe that GM will go back to Full Size Cars - a segment that is just falling off the cliff to the 3 Row SUV. I expect to eventually see the Omega Platform spawn an SUV to be the real Top End FOr Cadillac TOO.

I really did not understand the decisions on which brands to kill and which to keep that GM made. If I were GM I would kill all the brands except Cadillac and maybe Chevy then just make the great cars retaining brand/car name. Why not have a GM Pontiac/GTO, or a Olds/98, or Buick/Riviera?

Floating roofs:
2020 Sentra, 2019 Altima. NISSAN Maxima, 2019 Acura RDX
Some Jeep crossover, GMC Terrain, Lexus RX , its fascinating how Hyundai Kia is accused of copying but people are going at act like the 2011 didnt start the Floating roof trend.

Remeber when the 2020 Sonata was revealed and people said the backend copied the Civic? Yet when the redesign GMC Terrain came out no one said that its front headlights are on the taillights of thenCivic's.

Greenhouses BMW 4 series, 2019 Qccord, Ford Fusion, Toyota Avalon, Chevy Inpala 2004 Subaru Legacy but only the 2011 Sonata would be the copycat because it is Korean.

If this Buick was a Hyundai it would be accused of copying Infiniti, Lexus and Acura. But because it isnt Korean people are going to play dumb and pretend it is original.
