Chevrolet Slashes Volt Prices By 18% In May To Move Inventory
Chevrolet Volt sales decreased 27 percent to 2,520 units in the first quarter of 2019. The results are unsurprising given the Volt’s ongoing struggle to establish footing in the market, along with the fact that it has been discontinued. So, in what could be an effort to move remaining Volt inventory, a new Chevrolet discount takes a whopping 18 percent off most 2018 Volt models.

I test drove a Volt. What an UNFORTABLE driving seat and driving position. The is an elevated hump on the floor that prevented the driver leg to be extended. VERY POOR DESIGN.

18% price reduction might not be enough

We started refusing shipments of the Volt some time ago. The Volt has ALWAYS been an anathema to sales.

Are you able to do that or can the OEM force product lines on you? Im not familiar with how dealerships operate from a supply perspective and just curious as to the mechanics of how that works...

A lot depends on your volume as to what you can get away with, but GM has a real problem with dealers refusing vehicles that are crap for sales: Volt, Bolt, Regal, Lacrosse, Cadillacs, etc.

We've cut the Continental to a stock on hand of two. We've reduced our Fusion stock on hand by at least 50%. We've thrown a hissy about so many Rangers in the pipeline being fully optioned models when the XL Supercab is being sought after by curious buyers who will not pay F150 prices for a Ranger. Ford listens better than GM.

We've gotten a greater allotment of Corvettes because we are finding sales.

The "glut" of Corvettes really isn't a glut. It's hold over production because it's being whispered that the C8 quite possibly will not be available until early 2020. There could be a 7 month lag between introduction and it going on sale.

I never really liked the Volt. When we tested it alongside other Hybrids - it just never really satisfied compared to regular Hybrids. THe short range meant you spent too much time using the engine - but when using the engine - the car was a real dog. THis was really only good for suburbanites living on fringe of the city - even in the NYC area - 30 miles was just not enough range.

And yet - using almost the same power set up - the regular Hybrid Malibu was a winner (Along with the Honda Accord) - far superior to the previous generation Ford Fusion Hybrids we replaced.
