TRADE WARS! That Car You Have Been Saving For May Soon Be A Lot More Expensive Than You Thought
President Donald Trump boosted tariffs Friday on $200 billion in goods from China and was preparing more in his most dramatic steps yet to extract trade concessions, further roiling financial markets and casting a shadow over the global economy.

China immediately said in a statement it is forced to retaliate, though hadn’t specified how as of 3:55 p.m. in Beijing. The move came after discussions between President Xi Jinping’s top trade envoy and his U.S. counterparts in Washington made little progress on Thursday, with the mood around them downbeat, according to people familiar with the talks. The negotiations were due to resume on Friday morning Washington time.

Sorry Countguy -- I accidentally hit the down vote button and it wouldn't let me go back and upvote your comment. I totally agree with you about the dangerous, disgusting, lying, ignorant a$$hole we are stuck with as president.

Stupid people just repeating what they see and hear on MSNBC/CNN!!! Every R.E. developer lost money in the late 1980s and early 1999s. Most of the biggest developers in the U.S. and Canada disappeared forever. The fact the Trump survived is pure business acumen.

We're in an economic War with the Chinese and have been for years and no one cared. The regressives on the left and the NeoCons on the right either don't understand or don't care. The Chinese ate our lunch when the community organizer and the moron from Texas were President. The time to take a gun to the gun fight instead of a knife is now.

Trumps Real Estate losses were small in comparison to all the other titans of industry. The Reichmans from Toronto (Olympia York) were the worlds largest property developers and took a hit of over $20 Billion and went BK. Trump was more fortunate and masterful at managing his debt and eventually turning it around.

As one Billionaire that I use to know told me "show me a billionaire and I will show you someone who has been bankrupt at least twice" and he was right. John went BK 3X before making bank. Big risks -big rewards

First of all, I suspect the $2.3 billions in auto parts subject to be taxed are mostly tires and aftermarket parts, which have little to do with OEM/new car prices.

Tires are a huge thing. Last set I bought I asked to see tires NOT made in China. The selection went from 30 to 5.

Secondly, is this one of those blame it on Trump article to get more clicks? Like how a
17.5% tariff on Mexican tomatoes will make consumers pay 40% to 85% more??

Agent009, the mere fact that you considered tires made in China for installation in your car is a travesty. The Chinese make crap, cheap crap. Buy tires made in Japan, Italy or France, plenty are available.

Italian tires (Pirelli) are just as bad as Chinese tires but at least they make one hell of a calendar. Toyo or Michelin only for me

I don't care who makes it, especially on low tech stuff like tires. It's the companies that should be held accountable for the product they sell.

Case in point - iPhone

President Trump is playing hard ball with the Chinese who have been raping and bilking the U.S. for years. The U.S. needs Pres. Trump to protect the U.S. and eliminate Uncle Sap from being abused by foreign nations.
