DRIVEN + VIDEO: Doug DeMuro Details The All-new Audi E-Tron INSIDE And OUT — Is It Changing YOUR Mind Now?
One of the most talked about Audi vehicles over the past year has been the highly anticipated arrival of its first-ever fully electric vehicle. The E-Tron is Audi's EV sport-utility vehicle.

While some have been put off by the recently announced range of a mere 204 miles on a full charge, the vehicles have been spotted arriving in showrooms. We're thinking that the dealers are going through their lists to get these cars into customer's garages.

But, how good of a vehicle is it? The one and only Doug DeMuro had the chance to find out.

Check out DeMuro's take on the all-new E-Tron in his video review below. You may walk away a bit surprised at several things.

Then let us know: Has THIS review changed YOUR mind about the E-Tron? Are you willing to give it a shot? OR, are you crossing it off your list?

The Audi E-Tron is a fully electric SUV that previews the future of the Audi SUV. Today I'm reviewing the E-Tron to show you what to expect from the new Audi E-Tron, and I'm showing you around the E-Tron to show you everything you need to know from the future of the luxury SUV.

I just leased a new Kia Niro PHEV on Saturday. I would have gone pure EV except I might need to drive cross-country for work, and will be in an apartment with no ability to charge. But the E-Tron doesn't have the range I want for my retirement car in a few years. For me, 250 real world miles is a requirement. Audi came up short. Maybe when my lease is up Audi will have added a longer range battery, but my guess is I'll be looking at the VW Crozz by then.

Actually people are getting 240 real world base on comments on forums. So EPA estimates are very conservative

Individual comments on forums can vary all over the place. This is why EPA Standards exist. For instance, comments on my EPA 325 mile Tesla Model 3 range anywhere from 250 miles in real life up to 400 miles. Depends on driving habits, temperature, terrain, etc.

EPA standards are the apples to apples.

I spoke to a PhD in electrical engineering about car batteries, etc. He said in terms that were way to technical for me that the reason that Jauguar and Audi EVs list a shorter range is due to the manner in how the batteries work and the systen not allowing the battery to go to zero charge. In short, it is about safety. It is why you have not heard of a Jaguar not VW group EV bursting into flames. Tesla batteries are engineered for maximum range to gain attention.
It is not for lack of engineering prowess for the Europeans.

Is it me, or is the Audi ETron, basically an electric Audi Q8? Audi took out the engine and the gas tank and added batteries and a propulsion system.

Same body and same/similar interior?

I think you're correct. the e-Tron is the electric version of the Q8 lux 4dr coupe. exterior basics also shared with the upcoming Cayenne 4dr coupe SUV. automotive finance 101. build the cars people will definitely buy to pay for the r&d for the furture-tech flagships.

Its not at all an electric Q8. Its smaller and lower and practically a Q6.
