Just Another Day In Your California Commute To Work?

Ah, California. The U.S. state is blessed to have beautiful weather for most of the year but in Los Angeles, is crippled by absolutely terrible traffic. As it turns out, California is also home to some rather erratic drivers.

The following dashcam footage was shared on YouTube a few days ago and shows a handful of drivers getting into trouble when traveling down a perfectly straight stretch of highway near the small city of Riverside, about 55 miles (88 km) outside of Los Angeles.

I love the people who are in the wrong lane to turn and they think it's OK to inconvenience you.

I love the people who are behind you and plan to exit, so they pull to the left, pass you and then pull to the right to exit.

I love the people who ride your ass, you pull right to let them pass and then they lag.

There are a LOT of FOTB drivers.

Everyone who is on their phone while driving needs to be executed.

But yes, the video is a typical day in California especially on the 405 corridor.

@MD- In my youth looking after the CDN Banks I would always drive downtown and park in TD Centre. The guys there got to know me and always gave me a good spot. These days I always take the GO Train. I would never bother driving into the core. Just not worth it.

I have to drive through LA once a week to Newport Beach and inevitably the 405 moves better than the more direct route the I-5. People are just hella stupid drivers. Then you have the moron motorcyclists doing lane splitting. I have NO sympathy for motorcycle idiots.

405 Drivers are just inattentive and maybe stupid. In NYC, driving takes skill and alertness.

There is such a thing as the "lap of Manhattan" (FYI - Manhattan is an island that is about 26 miles in circumference). A select few carefully plan the trip and can do it well under 30 minutes. Check out this article.

00R - would you try this in your BMW M2 late one night and let us know how you make out?

'The mysterious CBC videographers also explain the trip starts at the Staten Island Ferry Terminal at the tip of the island, up the FDR, across the GW Bridge Interchange and down the Henry Hudson to once again emerge on the other side of the Battery Park Tunnel.

Total time for the journey is an amazing 26:03 over 24.48 miles, which means an average of about 56 mph — impressive when you consider stops for lights — many, many lights.'

That is a pretty epic time. I'm sure he hit 150 mph at certain points... in a Saturn Sky.

"Small city of Riverside"??

Riverside has been one of the fastest growing cities in America for more than 20 years. It's current population is more than 330,000.

Not a "small city" by any measure.

Yes. Their city slogan is: "Riverside...the Bakersfield of the Inland Empire."

@MBguy - In Canada you have to have a population of 600,000 before you earn city status. Riverside would still be a town if it was in Canada.
