New Trend? Millennials Begin Naming Their Babies Tesla
Parents sometimes give their kids weird names after weird things, or sometimes after weird people or symbolic things. And while most of us think only deranged celebrities name their kids "Apple" or "Blanket," the general public isn't free from blame.

According to data released by the United States Social Security Administration, 109 parents in the U.S. named their child "Tesla" in 2018, presumably after electric automaker run by Elon Musk. Prior to 2003, the name "Tesla" was likely referenced as the surname for Serbian-American inventor, Nikola Tesla. However, as the brand gained traction so did the trend of naming children after it. In 2018, a total of 102 girls and 7 boys received the name.

What nonsense. I wish people would stop such foolishness, and I extend that to all ridiculous names that parents make up.

Plus the risk of these babies having major defects right out of the hospital or bursting into flames.
How long before the first Geely is born?

Just keep it simple and name your child after a Catholic Saint. Make sure the spelling is correct for that Saint's protection and care. Easy Peasy. BTW you don't have to be Catholic or want to be. It still works...

One of our first set of twins got an Indian name and the other a Celtic name. My family expected names like Duane or Cody and my wife's family expected saints' names preferably Italian spellings.

@MD-That is how it goes in Italian families. Our crew is Italian in name only. More Canadian with Italian, Polish and Irish rolled in. All have Saints names but no Italian spellings.

One tradition we broke was using "Matthew" a for the first-born son. My father is Matthew and tarnished the name in his younger years. My grandfather was Matthew and he tarnished it his entire miserable life. My great-grandfather--still alive--is Matthew...his father was...his grandfather was...

We named our first set of twins Karac (an intentional misspelling of Carrick) and Connor the single boy Stone and the second set of twins Callan and Clint (long story).

@MD- Interesting. All we had was middle names coming from parents or grandparents. I have my Dad's middle name John. My brother has my maternal grandfather's name Edward. A bit like connecting the dots but it works.

Karac (nee Carrick) Connor, Stone, and Connor are all "stone" related and Stone was the name of a very good friend and business mentor of mine. He died in his early 80s leaving his husband behind. They both wanted children when they were younger. I met him when I was 14 and my wife knew him from a toddler on. Clint is a distant of cousin of mine from Texas where two sides of my family diverged. Two brothers had a blow out. One went to California and one stayed in Texas. This was mid-1800s. Anyway, this cousin Clint and I are less than a year apart, but he and his wife cannot have kids. He and I look like brothers. So my wife and I decided to name a son after in. All of my boys have the middle name of "Matthew". then there is our "inherited" teenager Jed. LOL My wife wants to build a hacienda style house down in the Palm Springs area--we love the desert--to play on my "wild west" heritage. LOL I think she just wants to spend money. I see Clint--the cousin--quite often when I go to Tucumcari. He'll drive up and hang out.
