Super-SUV War Heats Up - Ferrari's Purosangue To Challenge The Lamborghini Urus In 2022

Purosangue. A name that will soon change the automotive landscape forever. This will be the name of Ferrari’s first-ever high-riding model, which should arrive at some point in 2022. While that’s still at least two years away from now, we can now offer you a glimpse at the design of the super-SUV.

The rendering you see above depicts a sport utility vehicle based on Ferrari's new Front Mid Engine Architecture. Obviously, it will share a lot of design cues with the rest of Ferrari’s lineup but it will also feature some unique styling solutions like the C-shaped headlights and pop-out door handles hidden into the doors. Of course, this digital interpretation is based on information from insiders but things could change during the development process.

And why do you assume the Ferrari will have a bespoke chassis for the Puromerda? Bentley claims the Bentiguan is bespoke when we know it isn't.

Well it could use an FCA chassis or modify one. Right now it is running around looking like an Lusso that has been lifted. Car + Driver showed a picture of a Lusso with an even higher roof. It might look conventional, modern or super fugly Ferrari-ugly. Nobody knows what they really mean by a high riding car. The Rolls Cullinan has a very long bonnet. So might the Purosangue. It could be a mashup between a Lusso and a Stevilo.

For a SUV, Ferrari/FCA will not spend the R & D $$$ for a low volume vehicle. SUV's are a different animal (they don't track SUV's) compared to sports car. For expample, 911's to Cayenne's.

Look at the the 3 (soon to be 4 with the Cayenne Coupe), The Urus, Bentaga (bentley) and the Q8. They all share the same platform, and they are all good vehicles. But with so much competition, whats the real value of spending double or triple ? A badge? 1/2 to 1 second 0-60? Consumers know better.

First Ferrari and FCA are two separate companies. In fact there is a lot of animosity between the two right now. 2nd Ferrari is not like any other auto manufacturer, they are a luxury goods manufacturer.

Ferrari is a money machine, it’s current market cap is higher than that of FCA.

FCA and Ferrari are two separate companies owned by the same company.
