Take one of the world's most successful automakers and pair it with a company with plenty of forward-thinking vision. What do you get? Apparently, a game-changing all-electric halo sports car that could become a halo car for the Hyundai N performance brand.

An appropriate halo for Hyundai would be an RWD Tiburon that mirrors the Mustang. An EV halo car of the Rimac sort should be a Genesis, but even there I would say do a Genesis "Corvette" first.

I think a Genesis 'Corvette, front engine-RWD would be a good fit and maybe pickup some Vette owners who do not want a mid-engine.

As with the NSX at Acura (twice) and the LFA at Lexus, a Hyundai supercar is a step too far from a Palisade (their most expensive product). It's even too far for Genesis. They need to jog before sprinting.

I'm not saying Hyundai is incapable of excellent engineering because they have demonstrated competence. It's what the market will support.

If the NSX were a Lamborghini, it would easily see at or above goal. But because it's a Honda/Acura it gets fire sale price reductions.

Which is why a Hyundai Corvette, performance car at a reasonable price. The problem with the NSX is that it is 3x more expensive than anything else at Acura, all of which are pleasant, but mundane fwd based vehicles.
The Corvette is not even the most expensive Chevy in the showroom.

What's turning the supercar and performance car markets on their head are electric engines. Gas driven performance cars are separated by the power, sound, quality and character of their engines. An electric engine is an electric engine, available to all and indistinguishable.

And they aren't smart enough to do a "Mustang" which is where the money is.
