Carbon Fiber Bed Versions Of GMC Pickups Will Retail For Over $70,000
One of the biggest innovations on the new 2019 GMC Sierra is the industry-first carbon fiber composite bed. Dubbed CarbonPro, GMC promised that it'd be an alternative to steel and a truck bedliner. After a really long wait, we finally know how much you'll have to shell out to get it—but there's a catch—we still don't know how much it costs on its own.

For the remainder of the 2019 model year, the CarbonPro bed will be offered as part of a select package in the AT4 off-road truck or the luxury-focused Denali.

I'm with you on this, but if some moron wants to spend money for nothing in return, then so be it. I'm sure this increases insurance cost.

It's what the market will bear.

Who cares? People spend over $100k on Mercedes all the time. These trucks cost less, are almost as luxurious, and provide way more utility. Apparently there are a shit ton of people out there with way more money than I'll ever have. I don't care what they spend it on.

Analysis by TFL shows this bed costing $14,000... No wonder GM plans to make less than 1000... Very niche niche!!!

A spray-in bed liner is just as effective for $300.... Duhhhhhh!!!!

Obviously - this is a misleading statement. ANd the item above even says so

The only version of the Truck that will have the Carbon Fiber bed ARE the HIGHEST equipped vehicles - which already cost near that price without the bed. A regular Denali already costs about $67,000

For comparison - a Limited Trim Ford F150 lists for OVER $70,000 and it does not offer a Carbon Fiber bed at all.

All this is - is the Model 3 effect - expect most cars to come out at the higher trim ranges first for maximum profit

I am not aware of traditional bedliners having durability problems when subject to normal use (ie. not throwing cinderblocks and heavy tools around in the back of a truck). This seems like an afterthought that was thrown in once the product planners realized they had a dud on their hands.
