DRIVEN + VIDEO: So, Does The Honda Civic Still OWN The Compact Car Class?
When it comes to entry-level cars, there's a few staples that exist. And, honestly, they're all good vehicles. It's a matter of figuring out which shoe fits, really.

Although Honda had a rough few years of turning out products that induced yawns, the company woke up about a handful of years ago. It's been putting out hits since. One of those is the Civic.

After driving it when it had its all-new debut, I was shocked. It was fun, economical and good looking — at least to me.

Does that remain true in 2019 though after a mild refresh? How does it stack up to the latest competition?

Seek and ye shall find, Spies! Check out Roadshow's perspective, below.

2019 Honda Civic Sedan Review: The top compact sedan gets a bit better. Midcycle refresh updates perk up exterior styling, while thoughtful cabin changes make the 2019 Honda Civic easier to live with. Read the full review -

I prefer the VW Golf.

I'd probably go with a Corolla or an Elantra to be honest. The Civic is too ugly to live with. The Golf/Jetta are boring and dated looking with abysmal quality. The Mazda 3 is hideous in hatchback form.

Yep. Tell your kids to get a Corolla. Reliable. Dull, nondescript. You won't attract that kind of girl driving one. Gold diggers will avoid you like the plague. But you will likely get into a house before all of your friends. Being a home owner will then attract a much different type of woman. #maria

My biological boys are too young to go there yet and Jed could even like guys. He isn't dating any girls and hangs with his guy friends mostly. i don't care who he stabs as long as he is safe. I was notorious and infamous in high school. He's the good boy.

Civic and Mazda 3 are the ones to beat in the segment. Civic still looks fresh and best in sedan form. Mazda 3 looks best in sedan form as well.

My Grandchildren are clearly favoring the Mazda - although many of them are a class up (Accord/6) due to height.

However - the Mazda may be leading because of the local dealer - who is Excellent - locally owned. The Honda dealer is part of a Big Chain and I would not even go there.

Civic seems to be the leader.

In the GTA the Civic is definitely the sales leader but is butt ass ugly. The Mazda 3 Sedan is the best looker in the class but man did they shit the bed with the Kardashian-ass hatch as that could have been a homer with a better back end design. Pitty as Mazda has some really talented designers and product offerings.
