The GREAT Debate: Which Color Is WORSE? Gold Or Brown?

The GREAT Debate: Which Color Is WORSE? Gold Or Brown?
Tonight, we've got to ask an important question. We're sure this will be quite a polarizing topic but we've got to get down to the bottom of it.

WHICH color is worse: BROWN or GOLD?

Over the past couple of weeks I've seen a handful of vehicles painted in both shades. Frankly, it's not too uncommon to stumble across a 2000s Infiniti I30 painted that champagne hue. But what I've discovered is that brown is making a comeback in a big way.

Hell, even one of the exclusive BMW Individual colors you could option the pre-refresh BMW M760i was a matte brown. It was so dark it would look black most of the time; however, when the sun came out it was most definitely brown.

Just the other day I saw a late model Mercedes-Benz SL-Class in brown as well. But that's just the start. That's because Agent 001 sent me pictures today of a brown-colored Lexus LC500h. To me this is such a head scratcher, especially for that car, given how many colors it looks great in.

Having said that, we're curious about which color YOU think is the worst choice. We're all ears!

Any color on a Lexus.

Not a fan of either but gold is usually pretty putrid.

I would gladly take a brown car over any gold car any day of the week. As Lexus shows, you can do a great job of it if you try.

Asking a customer if they would like to take it in the brown is the funniest thing. lol

This gold VW is not that bad. You should see 90's gold Mercedes

Brown is in fact better than some other color, say, a Green one

A 90s gold Mercedes is quite bad.

Some of the greens are OK it's just the 1990s were full of a lot of bad greens.

The 90's Mercedes gold was called 'Champagne' and yes it was BRUTAL!

Depends on the car, in fact the two you show both look ok with their colors. On the other hand that gold on a nice sedan would look horrid. Brown can work on a larger number of vehicles but certainly not all.

valhallakey is spot on. It wouldn't be appropriate to compare "all gold vehicles vs. all brown vehicles."

Some car designs look awful in a particular color - but the same color on a different vehicle can actually look good.

Depends on the shade and the car. The favorite car of the King of Cool, Steve McQueen, was a 1963 MARRONE BROWN Ferrari 250 Lusso given to him by his first wife Neile Adams as a gift.

Agree shades like Bronzo Scuro, Nocino, Rame are spectacular colors that looks much better than 50 Shades of Gray. Now let’s discuss cars painted Green.

Hear what you're saying but the Lusso doesn't look SPECTACULAR in brown.

It's passable though, mostly due to an excellent, fluid design.

I loathe shit brown and its numerous shades but the VW looks good to me and I would call that Champagne not Gold but what the hell do I know? as I'm color blind as hell and love me British Racing Green especially on a vintage Jag or E Type...

Because we chose to say Re-NO to it. FCA is sinking...Sad.

FCA is sinking ONLY due to mismanagement by Fiat that routes profits from Ram and Jeep into shit pile Alfa Romeo. That stupidity will come to a screeching halt under Renault and YES it will be Renault in charge in this merger of equals.

One represents urine and the other shit. No wonder the public is repelled by the colors.

Nothing wrong with either color. However, I would not personally buy a brown vehicle.

I don't mind either. I don't think there's really any color on a car I would object to. maybe because my Mom drove around in a sun yellow Benz 300D for years, with sun yellow hub caps..LOL.

But the brown on the Lexus has a reddish undertone that doesn't make it look so turdy. I've seen that color on the road and it doesn't look bad.
And that gold on a VW Wagon looks pretty decent. Nothing offensive about it at all.
