The Auto Industry Is SCRAMBLING Due To President Trump's New Tariffs Slated For Mexican Imports
Global auto and parts manufacturers scrambled on Friday to make contingency plans and look at ways of speeding some deliveries after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened new tariffs on all Mexican imports starting early next month.

Companies based in North America, Asia and Europe were holding conference calls and meetings to explore if they could move up certain shipments of parts and vehicles to mitigate tariffs on Mexican goods, auto executives and trade group officials said.

Those tariffs were set to begin at 5 percent on June 10 and rise from there - to 10 percent on July 1 and ultimately hitting 25 percent on Oct. 1 “unless Mexico substantially stops the illegal inflow of aliens coming through its territory,” Trump said Thursday...

So much for signing a deal with the Americans. If your signature on a trade agreement is not worth anything.... what next?

So the Mexicans have NO RESPONSIBILITIES? Are you that bereft of a moral compass?

@MD- I never said they didn't. But these are separate issues. If you sign a trade agreement you should stick to it.

They are ONLY separate issues to people like you who deal in the world of situational ethics and you screw morality if it advances your political ideology which in this case is bitching about President Trump any chance you get which is patently unethical on your part because you are CANADIAN.

@MD- The problem remains of people coming from other countries through Mexico into the USA and Canada. You fix the problem at the source. If nations thought bigger there would be a free trade area from Alaska to Argentina. All boats rise with the tide. This would lift millions out of poverty, spur investment and create jobs and stop the flow of immigrants. Sending in the Army to deal with the Cartel's once and for all would also be a step in the right direction.

It's Mexico's moral responsibility to secure its borders. It refuses to do that, thus they are public enemy #1. You bring Mexico's income to its knees in retaliation and they won't give a second thought to keeping central Americans from having an easy crossing if their already faulty economy is decimated. Time for the US to hobble Mexico and then on to Canada.

This is exactly how you play hardball with an irresponsible regime like the one that is sending Mexico into ruin.

May Fidel Castro's bastard son be next.

I am not a fan of Trump, but these central American refugees have to travel nearly a thousand miles through Mexico to get to our border. Mexico is not doing nearly enough to slow this down. Maybe this will get their attention.
